Get ready to treat yourself to 1959 pricing in Los Angeles!
In honor of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s 20 Emmy nominations, Amazon is celebrating “Maisel Day” with 1959 prices at different retailers in Los Angeles on August 15, 2019!
For one day only, Amazon will be partnering with over 25 businesses in and around LA to “offer customers the chance to eat, drink, primp and have a night out on the town at retro prices.”
Pink Cupcakes from Big Sugar Bakeshop
Customers will be able to get a Melburger and fries at Mel’s Drive-In for 50¢, enjoy a Pink Vanilla Cupcake from Big Sugar Bakeshop for just 25¢, watch a movie at the Bay Theatre for 51¢, gas up for 30¢ a gallon at the Santa Monica Chevron, and spend the night at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt hotel for $40, to name just a few of these unbelievable deals.
All of the Maisel Day deals are walk-in only and subject to availability, of course. Maisel Day has its own website, where you can read all of the details and view a complete list of the vintage deals available.
Why August 15th? It just so happens that’s the day Emmy voting begins. Although this looks suspiciously like a campaign stunt to grab the attention of Emmy voters, you don’t need to be a member of the TV Academy to score one (or lots) of these amazing offers. Anyone living in or traveling to LA can get in on the fun!
Try a 30-day trial of Amazon Prime and catch up on past episodes of The Marvelous Mr. Maisel!
I wish I lived in LA 🙁
Me too 🙂
If only I could buy a house now in LA at 1959 prices! 🏡💵⬇️😂
LOL! That would be awesome!
Thanks I’ll definitely be at Sees Candy!
Awesome! You’re welcome, Randi!
Oh Mylanta… the crowds, the traffic! This looks truly awesome, but I would probably pay to not have to battle it all. 😉 If anyone does go, though, Canter’s Deli is a definite must! It is an old school restaurant that always feels like it’s been frozen in time circa 1969. The Reuben sandwich and matzo ball soup are SO good!
can you imagine the lines..especially at the gas station…very cool but i feel like mayhem will ensue
yep. like the saying goes money is time. if you have to wait over an hour ++++ it’s not even worth it.
Yeah the gas station will be nuts bc gas is so expensive in California! I bet they’ll run out quick! I wish I was going there now- had I known in advance I would’ve! The Roosevelt for $40?!?! OMG I don’t think you can even find a cockroach hotel in LA for that price let alone a great hotel like the Roosevelt!
jealous!!!!! wish this was in NYC…then again I can just imagine the crowds and super long lines. probably not even worth your time
LA is already crowded enough. Now it will be a total zoo on Maisel Day
i leave inLA But my gas tank is full right now from Costco gasoline. That gas station is less than 1 mile from my house. Shucks. I might try the sees candy And a sandwich somewhere else and I do love champagne but that is a little early in the day for champagne. Thanks for the tip I don’t know how many people in LA would even know about this except for hip2save thanks bye love free stuff for Low-cost almost free stuff. Yippee
@mary you could always fill up some gas cans!
Well if you don’t live in Los Angeles you didn’t miss out today. I was in two different towns today and the lines were so long at each place I didn’t even bother to park the car because it would take over an hour to purchase any item that was on the 1959 price list. Besides there was no place to park either. I didn’t even attempt the gas station I’m sure it was a nightmare.
I Had the Best time at Mels, lots of happy folks in 50es dress. Plus friendly staff and great food. Will be back. Thanks Mel
