I wouldn’t be concerned about overfeeding as long as you don’t use treats. I use her regular kibble and at one bite at a time, she loves this. I don’t leave it with food all the time so she doesn’t bore of it and I won’t put a lot in each tube. The point is she has to work for the food. One kibble at a time.
My cat wants to be as fat as he can and can finish off his bowl of food in less than 30 seconds before begging for more. We bought this for him to slow his eating down so that he can actually realize that he’s got food in his stomach. This also stimulates him so he’s a little more active because he’s working for his food. I highly recommend it to those who have cats that want to eat everything in the house.
This is a great feeder – all three cats love it! They figured it out the first day. They enjoy scooping out one piece and eating that, then the next piece. No more front loading! Highly recommend.
