The Color Run: The Happiest and Most Colorful 5K Run on the Planet (Get $5 Off Your Registration!)
Calling all runners, joggers and/or walkers of all ages and fitness levels! If you’re looking to have some unique fun while also getting some exercise this summer, then be sure to check out The Color Run’s 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour!
The Color Run™, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet :D, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community. The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race (love that!) in which participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. Plus, the fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using even more colored powder to create millions of vivid color combinations.
The Color Run caters to all ages – kids and adults alike and to all levels – first time runners to professional athletes (in fact, over 60% of Color Runners are first-time 5k runners!).
For a limited time, Hip2Save readers can head here, choose a race (choose from over 100 locations across the country!) and then use the promo code HAPPY5OFF at checkout to save $5 off any race registration. This promo code is valid for ANY city that is not sold out; however, note that most races do sell out so be sure to sign up now to secure your spot.

On a side note, I ran The Color Run Race in Boise last August along with both my sister, Bryn, and her sister-in-law. We had such a great time – this was honestly one of my most favorite races ever. It was extremely family-friendly and geared for all ages – there were families with strollers, teenagers, grandparents, college students etc. (they even had a kid dance-off contest at the end – so cute!). And I loved that the focus of the race was more about having fun and getting covered in paint versus being the first one to cross the finish line.
If you have never participated in The Color Run, I highly encourage you to check it out and see if a race is coming to a city near you. I am signed up to run The Color Run Race in Boise again on August 23rd along with all 3 of my kids and my hubby! Should be lots of fun! :)[/h2s_box]
I highly suggest wearing a N95 mask at these type of events! Fun, but lung health is most important!
Totally agree, these races really aren’t safe! Please take precaution if you want to participate!
these are fun!!! Great to do with the kiddos! I have done these & it was ‘safe’
LOVE this! I will be at the one in SLC, UT. It’s actually just a food grade colored corn starch.
True that’s it’s colored corn starch, but you definitely shouldn’t breathe any particulates in.
that’s why i got onto the comment section. i was going to ask about the safety of the stuff they are throwing on you and putting in the air.
on a normal day if you saw that stuff in the air, wouldn’t you stay away for health concerns? not something i would be in while running. kindve weird.
We ran in July. Great family fun day!
We ran it and it was FUN!! I suggest a hankie tied around your mouth and nose. If not for the entire run, for sure for when you go through the color stations. They are $1 at Wal-Mart. Enjoy it!! We did it with 6 of us. Good times!
Any suggestions on buying a cute tutu inexpensive locally? I’m running next week and have no time to make or order. Thanks.
Definitely not good to inhale that stuff.
Want to know more? Here’s a link to the OSHA safety data sheet for cornstarch.
