Does anyone know of any free audio book clubs for the blind? My friend is 47 & lost her sight last year & is missing her reading hobby! TIA!!
Go here http://www.loc.gov/nls/ They provide players and talking books for the visually impaired. They also have audio magazines. If your friend is missing enjoying films look for DVDs with a descriptive audio track – that will have a narrator who describes the action and visual aspects. If you live in a major city a local theater may offer these occasionally.
Check with your local library. Some states (I’m not sure if it is all states) have a program through the library systems to provide audio books to the blind for free.
Thanks so much Collin!!! I have always wished there were ratings on books for content, just like there are for movies! The Fussy Librarian looks like it will be very helpful!
