We buy Schwan’s every other week! We love the convenience and most items have been great! Our go-to items are the frozen veggies, chicken, and ice cream!!
I started using Schwan’s about 2 years ago when Collin posted this same deal. The delivery day was already established in my area (every other Thurs.). The food is good and while some things are too expensive for my family (4 kids, two are teens) there are other things that are actually a decent value when you factor in the convenience. Our favorite thing is the raw breaded chicken tenderloins. It’s $20 for the bag but I get three meals out of it. I use them for wraps, in pasta, or in a salad. One time I used them to make chicken parmesan. I usually order a few things once a month or every other month.
They have some excellent gluten free bread and chicken nuggets – my daughter has a wheat allergy.
Their pot roast is fantastic, we also like the chicken fries, curly fries, breaded shrimp, chicken patties are WAY better than Tyson/Perdue, and the breakfast pizza is a favorite of my husbands. My inlaws always buy the ice cream cones for my kids and they love them. Their pricing are more but we have yet to get anything that didn’t taste better than the grocery store’s version
My family loved the green beans steam bag- my kids eat them up.
Their chicken fries are the best! My picky little eaters love them. They also have great biscuits, tastes like cracker barrel (make them in a round cake pan). Another winner is the roast beef tips. And don’t get me started on their chocolate chip cookies! Never ordered something from Schwan’s I haven’t liked. May seem pricey but cheaper than eating out.
I ordered from them the last time this promotion came out after not having ordered from them in over 9 years and was very satisfied with the products I ordered. I wasn’t going to be home when the delivery window was expected so I paid the $4.99 each for two bags and ice packs to hold the food for me. Every item, including ice cream, was frozen as solid as if they had just been taken out of a freezer! Even with the addition of this charge this deal was fantastic!

Tried Schwan’s back in May since they had some great deals and I’m sad to say it was awful. My husband has never turned down a steak in his life, until Schwan’s steaks. The chicken patties are pretty hard to mess up and theirs were so bad we fed them to our dogs. Freezer food already has a bad wrap but all of the items we tried were not even tolerable.

Is this food service financially feasible for a single person w/low income?
Recently single and living alone, I’m finding it hard to shop for food without either spending too much on convenience or wasting food I can’t eat.
I personally haven’t found it very affordable compared to regular grocery shopping. It’s fun to do this new member half-off deal, but I never ordered again after that.
