I did this deal last year at bestbuy.com with a laptop purchase–I received the link through my university student email account. It did require a valid university email address, as well as a valid student ID number, if I remember correctly. I had to reply to an email from them to prove that the university account was valid.
Does this work on high school students. I have 3 still in high school and 4 graduating this year plus one out of school. This would make a great addition to the kids living room. ( yes as many kids as I have they have their own living room and then we have a large living room for everyone)
I called Best Buy customer service. The rep was familiar w/ the free Xbox promotion, but after confirming w/ a mgr, told me that they are NOT participating in it @ this time. They will, however, be running their own game promotion in Aug for back-to-school.
Dang it. We just bought a hefty PC from Fry’s electronics about a month ago.
Stephanie, did Best Buy say what their game promo will be? Does anyone know how long this particular deal goes to?
She declined to answer what the game promotion was going to be, but seemed to infer that it would be similar to this Microsoft promo where you get a free Xbox or the like w/ the purchase of a computer.
Went to Best Buy today and asked about this promo. The clerk told me that they were not familiar with it but did have a similar promo closer to back to school time. Last year it was purchase a Sony laptop over a certain amount get a free PS3. He said that he was pretty sure that they would have it again this year.
In order to get this deal, I went to the Microsoft store website and gave them my .edu email address and they sent me a promo code to use online from their store.
I called best buy as well as went to the store and they didn’t seem to be too familiar with this deal.
