Easy 5 Ingredient Italian Chicken Bake
Easy dinner ideas can be a lifesaver on busy evenings!
If you’re looking for a super simple and surprisingly tasty one-pan meal, try this simple Italian chicken bake that incorporates chicken, potatoes, and green beans. It takes just minutes to compile and the result is a comforting family meal ready in about an hour!
Hip Tips:
- Make sure potatoes aren’t cut too large so they cook a little faster and get that great roasted texture.
- Also, keep in mind that the original recipe uses a full stick of butter but I only used 1/2 stick. So use your judgment as to what your family might prefer.
- I use a zesty Italian seasoning packet from the store, but you can make your own seasoning following this recipe!
- You can cut up a pork tenderloin instead of chicken. I have made this recipe using pork and it’s just as tasty!
- Change up the veggies if desired. I have used broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus to name a few, and they were all a success!

We love this comforting dish very much!
If you need a no-fuss homemade dinner we definitely recommend this one. I love the buttery “sauce” it creates, and this is something my picky eater kids enjoy.
Mmmm! What a great idea. I make something similar to this but onions are not optional for me. My recommendation is to use onions even if you don’t eat them because they get rid of that bad smelling chicken smell that can happen when cooking with chicken. Also I highly recommend adding the garlic. Good luck to those who try this out.
For those who are interested in mixing it up a but instead of green beans try adding carrots and a tomato for variation as well as switching out the salad dressing for other spices such as sazon, paprika and salt or whatever else you have. Another thing, I use bone in chicken, peel potatoes but only halve them or keep them whole, and sometimes add mushrooms (I love mushrooms!).
Oh mushrooms would be great too! Lots of options on this.
Yes! I love this dish for that reason. So many ways to make it a ‘different’ meal. Thanks for sharing Lina ☺️
Thanks Lina! I love your recipes and have been making them on a regular basis. You have made meal planning so much easier!
Oh what a nice comment thanks!
do u use raw chicken? THanks:)
Yes raw and thawed. Thanks!
We make this dish all the time in our house and it’s a huge hit! I’ve made it with broccoli instead of the green beans before and it was good but the kids (and myself) prefer the green beans.
I’ve made this before and thought it was very bland. My hubs was in agreement. Not a fan.
I would try something healthier than a whole stick of butter
I used way less than that and it worked fine. Could sub whichever oil you want.
Use Ghee (it’s like organic butter but it’s not butter… and it’s delicious).
Use MELT its a butter but no dairy and no soy! and its organic and non gmo! its coconut oil based, it comes in a tub at whole foods. it might be at other places.
Does this use already cooked chicken or raw chicken?
Raw
I love how easy this is especially since I have a toddler and am 37 weeks preg!!
enjoy ur new bambino soon:)
We make this dish about every two weeks. It’s a winner every time! Also this is my go to dish to leave for the hubs to throw in the oven if I’m not gonna be home (not trying to be sexist, but the man cannot boil water). 😉
Katie your comment made me LOL!!
Yes! Too funny, yes very convenient.
I made a recipe similar to this but it called for drizzling a little olive oil on top
Add tons of spices to this! Never ever skimp on spices! Add these to everything — Garlic(fresh and granulated!) , pepper, salt, paprika, fun spice mixes of your choice , onion (fresh and granulated!), and a little soy sauce on the chicken only along with the above spices and I guarantee you it won’t end up bland. 🙂
Use hidden valley dry ranch mix instead of Italian…..amazing!!
Can skip the butter and season packet & just use fat free Italian salad dressing.
YUM & simple—made this dish that way a few times and it’s great!
Thanks! It sounds great! Just looking for other veggie ideas – hubby and kids won’t eat anything green…
I got my grown veggie hater to love veggies by cooking them in bacon grease. I cook a couple strips of bacon, remove them, then cook fresh veggies (green beans and shredded brussel sprouts are a fave) in the grease. I add minced garlic towards the end and shredded parmesean cheese, then I add the bacon back crumbled. Even got the green bean hating father-in-law to steal veggies from the kids’ plates this way!
this sounds good. My family LOVES the BBQ chicken dish you posted awhile back!
YUM! Thank you for this recipe! i made it for dinner- love that it a simple one dish dinner. I used a dry ranch packet since I already had it and used half a stick of butter. I think the next time I will use 1/4 stick of butter.
The hubs is making this for us for lunch! Bear in mind, if you do us bone-in chicken, (we didn’t) it will take longer to cook. We are trying it as-is first, before altering it in any way. SO excited to try something new! It is so hard to think of new recipes for chicken. Thank you very much for sharing !
Love you information
