Wondering how long to cook pork chops in Crock-Pot?
For this recipe, you’ll slow cook these pork chops for 7-8 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high. While this cooking process makes the meat so tender, these Crock-Pot pork chops with gravy are served whole, as opposed to many slow cooker meals where the meat is served shredded.
Slow Cooker Smothered Pork Chops
yield: 4 SERVINGS
prep time: 10 MINUTES
cook time: 7 HOURS
total time: 7 HOURS 10 MINUTES
A simple Crock-Pot meal that results in tender fall-off-the-bone pork and a delicious comforting gravy, all will LOVE!
Ingredients
- 4-5 bone in pork chops, thicker cut
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic, from the jar
- 1 envelope pork gravy mix
- 1 - 14 oz. can chicken broth
- 1 - 10.5 oz. can cream of chicken soup
- 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
- Optional to thicken gravy: 2 tablespoons cornstarch, plus 2 tablespoons water
Directions
1
Pour chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, gravy mix, onion soup mix, and garlic into the Crock-Pot slow cooker and whisk together.
2
Place pork chops inside the slow cooker and cover. Cook on low for 7-8 hours, or high for 3-4 hours, or until pork is tender.
3
To thicken gravy, first carefully remove meat from the slow cooker. Then dissolve cornstarch with cool water in a separate cup, and pour into a slow cooker.
4
Stir well, cover the lid, and cook on high for about 10-15 minutes until thickened.
5
Serve pork chops with gravy on top.
Hip Recipe Tips for these smothered Crock-Pot pork chops:
- Try to look for the thicker-cut bone-in pork chops for this idea, as they are hearty and will hold up well in the slow cooker.
- The gravy it makes is so delicious, so I definitely recommend serving the pork chops with mashed potatoes, or even rice would be great, too. Check out how easy it is to make mashed potatoes in the Instant Pot!
- There are many variations of this meal, including using a ranch seasoning packet instead of an onion soup mix packet. I think that sounds yummy as well.
Yum! This idea is definitely a winner.
I often forget how much my family enjoys pork chops and this is such an easy way to prepare them. It’s a nice change of pace from slow cooker chicken meals I tend to gravitate to more often.
Also if you’re just learning to cook, or maybe a college student, try this as a yummy idea. This is something I know my now older kids could probably pull off if I left them the slow cooker directions!
Confession: I actually made this a few years ago as our Christmas dinner because I was completely exhausted and just needed something comforting and easy. Well, my parents and family were all impressed, and it was great! I love how tender the pork turns out and the gravy is SO GOOD!

Do you have to brown the porkchops prior to placing in the crockpot?
No I did not, but Iโm sure thatโd be a yummy additional step.
I have done this recipe and thought it was very good. Very easy.
Thanks Paula!
Can i use jarred or canned gravy instead of the packet? If so how much?
Either. Whole can or whole jar.
Just tried and my chops were so tender the bone fell off! Thanks.

Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!
Can you use beef broth instead of chicken broth
Yes
I’ve made this several times after first seeing it on this site. It is delicious!!
Oh yay!! Glad to hear that Val!
Can I use cream of mushroom soup
Yes
my crock pot is longer rather than wider, would I be able to use this recipe also??
Yes, I do think so! I used to have that shape also. The meat gets really tender and delicious in either shape. ๐
So disappointed in the “processed” taste of these pork chops. I guess the can of soup and gravy mix could be homemade.
if you want it to taste unprocessed then don’t use processed ingredients.use homemade or unsalted chicken vegtable or beef broth.add like a 1/2 cup of white rice. or a small potatoe.add spices that you like, maybe some dried onion.i throw in a whole box of mushrooms, i dont cut them even..after eight hours there partially melted into the sauce. this is a way thats easy and doesn’t taste like the 1970’s. good luck and good eating.
๐ tastes like the 1970’s. That’s so true!!
You could use organic brands or use Better than bouillon and and sour cream and/or cream cheese at end instead of soup.
Yes! Great idea. Thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks for the recommendations!
Oh what a yummy dinner idea!! Thank you hip2save, do you think this would work with pork steaks? I have a few left in the freeze my dad sent us. Thank you!
Sounds wonderful except for the gravy mix, I have never found a gravy mix that tastes like real gravy. I’ll try it without that.
We use this recipe but instead of the onion mix- we use Hidden Valley ranch packet!!! My girls absolutely love this recipe!!!
Oh yum! Thanks for sharing Jen.
