ALDI: Possibly Accepting Credit Cards At Checkout
Calling all Aldi shoppers! You may now have more ways to pay at checkout as rumor has it that some ALDI stores are now accepting credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit cards at checkout. Since this change varies from store to store, I recommend talking with your local store manager to find out if and when credit cards may be accepted.
PLUS, as I mentioned here, Aldi is expanding their selection of gluten-free products, fresh and organic meat and produce, including the “Never Any!” brand of meats that contain no added antibiotics, hormones, animal by-products or other additives! Awesome! Head on over here for more details.
(Thanks, Stephanie!)
Sweetness! I love to use my 321 rewards kroger visa everywhere to earn checks for free groceries. This is great news!
An employee told me last year that they were going to be implementing this in 2016 so I am glad it is finally in affect.
I was wondering, does aldi accepted coupons?
Unfortunately no. But at least we can get credit card points now!!!!
There’s not many brands they carry that would even have coupons
They have store coupons you can use though! Just got some $5 off $30 coupons last week
where do you get the store coupons?
A few months ago, my local newspaper had $5 off $30 peelie on my delivered paper
I didn’t request them but a pack of 4 or 5 $5 coupons came in the mail. And it says come try us.
Finally! One day my debit card wouldn’t work (no clue why still) and i didn’t have enough cash. Embarrassing.
Same thing happened to me! Bank of America thought it was fraudulent activity so they put a hold on my account.
This links you to the Ireland Aldi website. I can’t seem to find it in the US version.
I love aldi! There prices are great, the stores are clean and the employees are friendly!
Glad to hear it!
Finally yay!
Yaaaaaah! I finally can shop there (don’t carry cash because I forget to stop at the bank and ATMs are not convenient).
They accept debit cards just not credit
I don’t do debit because of the safety issue. Last thing I need is for them to have my PIN number.
You can use your debit card as a credit card there. I do that. They give you the choice at checkout. I don’t ever put my PIN in anywhere either.
They wouldn’t use mine as credit. They said only debit.
Finally I once left a cart full of groceries bc I didn’t have my debit only cc and they didn’t accept it.
Thanks!!!! I love Aldi (if your going for organic ground beef and are a Costco member Costco is back to $4.99 a pound in Dallas Texas at least!) but hate that I have to use debit.
Is this true for US stores to? Only found Ireland info.
Hi Kimmy! Sorry for the confusion. It does appear this change is taking place at some stores. Since this change varies from store to store, I recommend talking with your local store manager to find out if and when credit cards may be accepted.
Since one of their cost saving measures is not having a phone line you will have to go in the store to ask the manager
They have a phone line at our local aldi. I forgot my cell phone and they let me use their store phone line. They also have a phone line in the phone directory when searching for aldi.
It was printed on my aldi ad for this week…now accepting credit cards!
Same with mine 😀
I like Aldi’s and am so glad to hear this. Thank you!!
About time
Do they have a 25 cent charge for Credit Card like they did with the debit cards?
I believe that depends on your bank as they charge the fee. I’ve never been charged to use Wells Fargo or Chase debit cards & we have shopped there for more than 10yrs. No issues. I read someone else mention this on another blog that this happens to her at Dollar Tree. Very strange
My aldi never charged 25. for using debit
A lot of times they charge if your purchase is under a certain amount. Our local dollar store adds a fee for any purchase under $5 when using a card.
I don’t think this is accurate for Aldi US. The link takes you to the Aldi Ireland site. The US site link: https://www.aldi.us/en/customer-service/faqs/method-of-payment/ does not show them accepting credit.
So sorry for the confusion. It does appear this change is taking place at some stores. Since this change varies from store to store, I recommend talking with your local store manager to find out if and when credit cards may be accepted.
Hallelujah!!!!! I was just there this morning and the clerk informed me of this corporate change…I did a slight happy dance – GUILTY! We had to change our debit card over for this very reason as we never carry cash! Love me some points on my Capital One card NOW!!!!!! I wish Ibotta would make Aldi one of there stores as I buy a lot of the any brand items and can never redeem it through the app. Happy Aldi shopping everyone!!!!!!
Aldi is our family’s main place to shop for groceries! Thanks for the info 🙂
so they finally made it into the 21st century
I don’t see anything about them accepting credit cards in their US stores…I wonder if this is only for specific locations?
This is only for Ireland Aldis, the link goes to the Ireland Aldi website
Hi Vina! Sorry for the confusion! It does appear this change is taking place at some stores. Since this change varies from store to store, I recommend talking with your local store manager to find out if and when credit cards may be accepted.

I just went to my nearest Aldi in Lavale Md. And she asked me credit or debit? I said Oh you take credit now! She said they just started.
Small world. I lived near there!! Crazy to hear someone from a small town!
Sweet!
Our Aldi’s takes Discover card for a 25 cent fee.
I’ve always paid with visa/mastercard at aldi and haven’t had any problems…
I hope the ones in NC are taking CCs now! thanks for the info
I was at a Charlotte area store tonight and they told me they would begin accepting credit cards March 1st.

The Minnesota Aldi’s have been accepting credit cards for almost a year now and it’s been great! Glad to see it was a positive experience for them and they are able to include everyone in it now!
My local Aldi in southern IL has been accepting credit cards for a while. I used my debit card there last summer.
It’s about time
The Aldi’s on Schaad Rd in Knoxville is now accepting credit cards. I did a double take when the cashier told me yesterday.
I started using Discover Card to pay at Aldi since last year and there is no fee.
They have been accepting credit cards at the Buffalo, NY area stores for over a month now. It was a great surprise when I checked out one day. Love to get Disney reward points on my credit card!
They’ve been taking credit cards in Va. since the fall–around October or so. Have one opening right down the street from me–can’t wait!
Hi Collin, I’m a former Aldi Store Manager and my hubby is currently still, this is absolutely true and each division will be rolling this out in the next coming months (if not offered already). Im in Ohio and their division will announce publicly March 1, 2016. It was ran in new markets (like N.Y.) as a test and will be coming to each division eventually. It wont raise prices, nor will Aldi charge any fees, this has been years in the making and Aldi is very excited to provide this convenience to its loyal customers!
Oh awesome! Thanks for such helpful feedback!
We visited an Aldi’s for the first time last night and fell in love. The Never Any chicken is great. They were taking credit cards also.
Our’s in upstate NY have been accepting credit cards fro quite a while now.
Yes my aldi in ny has been doing this for awhile now. Yes I hadn’t realized this was not everywhere. Mine in cny has been for awhile too.
Minnesota has accepted credit cards for a while now.
Our Aldi’s in Syracuse, NY have been accepting credit cards for several months.
My store in PA started taking CC a couple weeks ago. It took me by surprise when she said debit or credit. 🙂
I shopped an Aldi in North Georgia today and the cashier ask credit or debit.
I stopped at an Aldis for the first time in 15 years, Friday night. It was fun to show my kids about the .25 cart deposit, and boxing your own groceries. 🙂 *** it was too funny when the cashier kept our cart and slid a different cart over. My 13 year old looked at me and said I don’t get to keep my quarter??? Bahahahahaha!
A friend of mine said that our stores are starting Tuesday accepting them!!
We just got a new store built here a few months ago and I love it!
If you guys think Alidis is great, try SHARP SHOPPER. we have one in Winchester VA, and it’s amazing and very very cheap.
I can confirm from experience this is definitely true at the Exton, PA location.
I have always used a debit card at Aldi when I travel. Didn’t know they didn’t take credit cards.
