Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive: Donate Your Non-Perishable Food Items (Saturday, May 14th)
Did you eat a healthy breakfast this morning? If so, you are very fortunate as one out of every six Americans struggles with hunger. But here’s your chance to help! π On Saturday, May 14th, the National Association of Letter Carriers is calling everyone to help “Stamp Out Hunger” with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Stamp Out Hunger is the largest one-day food drive in the nation and will help feed millions of families in all 50 states!
This is a perfect time for you to go through your stockpile and donate as many non-perishable and unexpired food items as possible to support this cause! SO… grab your cans of soup, non-glass bottles of Juice, canned fruits and veggies, bags of pasta, cake & brownie mixes, etc. and place all these items in a bag. Then be sure to leave them at your mailbox on Saturday, May 14th as part of the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Your letter carrier will pick up your items and deliver them to local food banks or pantries.
Also, this year, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will accept online food donations for hunger organizations in San Francisco, New York City and Greenwich, CT anytime in May. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
* Go here and select the city/area you want to support
* Pick out and purchase the food you want to buy
* The food will be delivered for you at the end of the Stamp Out Hunger drive
* `You’ll get a tax receipt for your donation
(Thanks, Family Savings!)

Do you think they take baby food? I have a ton
I donated baby food last time π
Food centers really appreciate getting donations of baby food.
THIS^^ My baby lost interest in the pureed stuff and my pantry is full!
Wonderful! I was just organizing my donation pile today! =)
USPS often do not take my small packages from the office because is too have or they do not want to bother. Now I need to believe and trust them that they actually will take heavy cans from me and collected them. Haha π Maybe somewhere else is different but here in New York you need to brag USPS to do their job.
That’s too bad that they are like that π My mom works for USPS and they really look forward to this event here. I think the carriers like to see who brings the most back to the post office. She loves to sort all the food and organize it by category before donating. She talks about it for a while after the event each year. lol.
I do this every year. All the H2S deals I collect and wait for this to donate.
We just cleaned out our pantry and organized it. We have a box ready to donate. Perfect timing!
I did this 2 years in a row and my bag never is taken. There is usually a substitute mail person on the weekends who is terrible and mixes up everyone’s mail in the neighborhood… So maybe that’s why??? Hopefully most areas have a postal worker who isn’t totally clueless about this event.
That’s too bad…I’m with you, it’s possibly a sub that isn’t hip to the drive.
I will just drive my stuff to the food bank… no way is my mailman going to know why I am leaving food at the door.
FYI– Each year USPS leaves a printed yellow plastic bag in your mail in advance of the May pickup date. Use this bag for your donation and they will know what’s its for. If donating extras, label them and they always accept these donations along with their yellow bag! π
