Happy Friday: Frugal Father’s Day Gift
Sent from reader, Jennine:
Hi Hip2Save team! I just wanted to say thanks so much for helping me save money. I am a 24 year old girl who is super tight on money since I can’t work because of my health issues. I specifically want to say thanks for helping me score a free deal for my dad on Father’s Day.
Holidays typically stress me out because I can’t afford gifts but for this one I was able to get it free. You posted about getting free lays stacks so I got them for my dad and then wrote little things I love about him on the lid. My dad is a pastor of a small church and he can go hours without eating anything because he just doesn’t have stuff to eat at the office. I know it’s something small but I know he will love it (probably because I know my dad loves any type of food) plus when he has hard days at the office hopefully my encouragement will help him.
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Do you have a funny, “Hip”, or unique photo to share?! Email us at happyfriday@hip2save.com. I always tell my kids and husband, “it is never how much you spend on a gift but the thought that counts”. You show everyone that you love and thoughtfulness is worth far more than any gift you could have purchased. I hope you Dad knows just how much you love him!
Agree 100%!! ❤
How sweet. Im sure ur dad will love this gift., since it comes from ur very big heart. God Bless .
This is so sweet. Gifts that come from the heart don’t have to cost any money!!!
It’s definitely “the thought that counts” so sweet. ☀️
Love this sweet idea. This is what gifting is all about. xoxo
What a sweet story and what a blessing to have a daughter like you. My dad does not want me spending money on him so I send baked goods for his wicked sweet tooth. He is elderly and can eat whatever he wants thank goodness.
Bet he’ll save the lids. Actually, Stax containers are sturdy plastic. Maybe he’ll upcycle/reuse them.
The thought to please your father is what really counts, like our Father in Heaven. Thanks for sharing.
love it!
God bless you- this was a fantastic idea! 😇
I’m sure your Dad would appreciate it and it’s the thought that counts. You are the sweetest!👍🏼
Thanks everyone you are all very sweet 🙂
How thoughtful! Love this!
super sweet idea!
I love this, so very sweet! I’m sure he will be so touched and keep those lids forever 🙂💜👍🏻
Love this! My dad lived in an assisted living center and one year they asked children of residents to send a letter recalling favorite memories. This idea made me think of the letters. My dad’s aide said she would see him reading the letters we sent him numerous times always with a smile on his face. Thanks for sharing your idea!!
It’s always the thought (never what’s bought!) that counts. My husband and kids know I don’t want anything on a so-called “special” day except a hug and kiss and if they make a card, picture or letter that’s such a bonus!!! 😊❤️❤️❤️ My husband feels the same and we don’t waste $$$ on each other for our birthdays. (We do for the kids–I mean just not him and I) I hate that every holiday is commercialized the crap out it for the sake of money. Our society is messed up.
Too sweet! I no longer have my father. Enjoy every moment!!
So heart warnings. Kuddos to this thoughtful daughter who knows how to show her father how much she loves and appreciates him.
I love this!! These are the kind of gifts my dad would’ve enjoyed.
I always think about doing something thoughtful and corny lovey dovey for my husband. Then I remember when I worked retail and my boss received a “just because” gift of some flowers and a card from his wife. He played it off thanking her. Then as soon as she left he tossed them lol. That stuck in my head for over 10 years now. So now I always second guess thoughtful gifts.
Sounds very odd! Flowers from wife to husband… i used to get flowers as an apology sometimes, so maybe he did not accept her apology… anyways, gifts are wonderful. Please don’t let this gesture bring you down!
That’s beautiful because it’s a present from your heart. 💋💋
Could we donate to you assisting your father?
I second this, if possible!
Love this idea! So sweet! Might have to steal this idea… I’ll have my girls do this with Reeses for my husband. They’re his favorite!
I am sorry your health issues prevent you from working. If you are interested in earning some money from home Colin has mentioned several ways in past post. The two I can recommend are Swag Bucks and Pinecone research. For Swag Bucks you watch videos, play games, answer surveys to earn points which convert into gift cards. I redeem for PayPal so I can get cash. Pinecone each survey you complete is $3.00. You won’t get rich but you could easily earn $50.00+ per month.
This is so sweet!
Love this idea! Not only practical but thoughtful/heartfelt!
That is super cute and creative. I’m sure he will love it because it comes from a very sweet and thoughtful daughter. 😀
Love this idea! Honestly the best gifts I’ve ever received are the ones the kiddos create. They grow up so fast and looking back on their little scribbles and finger painting art makes me smile everyday! It really is the thought not the price tag that matters! Thabks for sharing your idea!
As a parent of two young adults, I can tell you first hand how much your dad will be appreciative of such a kind gesture with such loving words. 🙂
Thanks for sharing, what sweet idea!
