BOO on Michaels for opening on Thanksgiving!
Some employees want to work on Thanksgiving. I worked retail and working Thanksgiving was fought over. There weren’t enough spots for everyone to work as much as they wanted to.
I agree I always loved working it (even when I wasnt making double time) and I don’t understand the huge uproar of this recently when movie theaters, grocery stores, airports, hospitals, etc have ALWAYS been open on the holidays. My husband is a trucker and he is almost never home for the holidays (last year he got home Christmas day at 10pm) and we have little kids but we are thankful for his job. I just don’t get it…

Hospitals have no choice. What are they supposed to do with sick people, injured people, or people who come in with an emergency?! I worked in the cardiac cath lab for 10+yrs…you have to work 365 days a year in healthcare…its inevitable.
Agree why do people make such a deal of it. Alot of people dont care if they have to work it. Yet people get mad for stores being open. When tons of other lines of work have to work it too.
Honestly, I think the people in an uproar about stores being open Thanksgiving don’t want anyone else beating them to the deals.
Agree. For me, Christmas day is way more important.
Im glad others feel the same. Im so sick of whiners complaining that businesses are open Thanksgiving. Some people actually WANT to work holidays or maybe have no family to spend it with and WANT to get paid double pay.

This is totally random but speaking of Black Friday and all the ads that are coming out… I just saw online where Victoria’s Secret officially announced that they will be doing the free goody bag “valued at $100” free with any $75 purchase again this year (Big SECRET, huh… I mean they do it every year) but I’m just curious if I’m the only one who does NOT get excited about this deal. Don’t get me wrong, I do actually like Victoria’s Secret for the high quality of their bras but I can’t afford to shop there very often. My beef with this “$100 value mystery bag” is that my husband shopped there for me 2 years in a row and both years the free bag was a big cheapo laundry-type bag with a “retail value $79.99” tag on it and then a little baggie of samples inside. And what did he actually get for the $75 he spent? Like 2 pairs of underwear and a small bottle of perfume. I appreciated it…. I really really did…. but he was in there over 2 hours trying to get through the lines and pay. There’s seriously always a line that wraps around the mall of people waiting to get in to VS (like WHILE it’s open- not waiting for it to open- but the store like hits capacity and then people have to wait in line just to enter; and also Starbucks every year on BF. I don’t understand either because VS isn’t “that” great of a deal and Starbucks… well yeah coffee is great, I love it…. but I won’t take a one hour break from my shopping to stand and wait in line for coffee. Random thoughts! lol
I totally agree about the VS bag. That’s where being a smart shopper comes in handy.
On the website blackfriday.fm it states the online sale at Michaels will start at 6 PM on 11/24 but here you list it as 4 AM EST on Thursday (with the wrong date 26th). Which is the correct time?
