Wire Hanger Valentine’s Day Wreath Using Leftover Christmas Ribbon
Have any red or neutral colored Christmas ribbon? 🎁
If so, grab a wire hanger and make a CUTE heart shaped wreath for a quick Valentine’s Day decoration! I noticed this pretty burlap style ribbon with red berries on it purchased around Christmas in my ribbon stash and decided to try and make a heart shaped wreath with it! ❤️
DIY Wire Hanger Heart Wreath
Supplies Needed:
- Wire Hanger
- Ribbon, 2.5 inch wide, wired edged
That’s all!
Directions:
- Unravel a wire hanger. Shape it in a heart with the middle of hanger being the point at the bottom of heart, and the ends making the top of heart.
- Weave ribbon using one end of the hanger, making large ruffles. I kept my “ruffles” about every four inches or so.
- Move the ribbon down the wire and continue the ruffles all the way down the entire heart. For a fuller effect, use lots of ribbon and push it together so you can’t see the wire.
- Note: It’s hard to know exactly how much ribbon I actually used since the roll was already over halfway used, but I’m guessing maybe 12-15 yards?
- Reshape the wire into a heart if needed and use pliers to twist ends of wire hanger together. Manipulate ribbon so you can’t see any of the wire.
- Hang wreath by tying additional ribbon to wire on each side of heart.
I LOVE how this wreath turned out!💘
It was about a 20 minute easy project, and FREE since I had the ribbon.
Money Saving Ribbon Tip: Around the holidays, Costco has amazing prices on high quality ribbon such as the one pictured, about $6.99 for 50 yards! I like to stock up by buying neutral colors and use it all year round for gift wrapping and craft projects. A nice bright white ribbon goes with most wrapping paper!

This wreath is so cute. Love the background also.
Thanks Susan!
Way too cute!! You have the best ideas to make such cute things with stuff we already have!! Thanks for sharing your creativity!!
Thanks for the nice comment and glad you liked!
The dollar store has heart shaped wire wreaths too
Oh how fun! Thanks for sharing Lisa
So cute! I’m such a visual learner. Does the ribbon have a hole in it and you just put the wire through it? Wish there was a video, I would love to do this!!
The ribbon I had on hand was more like a burlap material that the wire went through easily. A red burlap ribbon would be awesome as well for this. π
Joan Crawford would hate this wreath. π
LoL yes she would.
Lina, I’m very grateful for the post. It was exactly what I was missing. Just created my own wreath and it turned out great. Wished I could post a picture. I had already purchased a book from my hubbies favorite pastor and a couple pair of socks. So I will write on the charcoal board “I love you from your head to your toes” and hope it will make him smile.
Oh my gosh so cute! You’re quick and so thoughtful π
No wire hangers ever! Lol jk
Thank you Lina going to give it a shot π¬
Oh good! Have fun

That’s great newsπ! Thanks π
Such a great ideas! i know what i can do with all the ribbons i got from Micheal’s $4 grab box!
Great idea! And jealous I didn’t get one! Lol Have fun ππ
Love this! I got like 20 rolls of large ribbon from one of the michaels grab bags. I was wondering what I should do with all this ribbon. This is perfect! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
I bet this would even be cute with strips of crumpled newspaper instead of ribbon, for a super-thrifty version. Possibly spray paint it when done to give it a little extra structure and color/sparkle.
Oh fun–I also think leftover strips of burlap fabric too! Thanks for stopping by.
Wow Lina! What a creative idea, yet inexpensive and cute! I bought this exact same ribbon at Christmastime, so I guess I know what Iβll be doing today! Lol….Thanks so much for all your great ideas and recipes!
Ah yay! Thanks so much Kristi! β€οΈ
