I wish they would do something like this for existing card holders.

is this a credit card?
You can apply for the credit or the debit card.
I have the Red Card debit card. It’s just like using your bank debit card only branded by Target and they don’t store the PIN on their server so a data breach like the one they had a few years ago can’t get into your bank account. All the benefits of using your own debit card plus saving 5% more off your purchase makes it a great deal. And I work in a bank!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
Which do people recommend getting- the credit or debit card?
Hi Deb, it depends. I have the debit Redcard because I have 2 major credit cards that I have and didn’t want a Target credit card (it was unnecessary for me). I figure I get the same benefits from having the debit card, so there was no need to have their credit card.
Debit all the way. My credit got hacked, cards were opened, packages were bought, I received so much junk mail that year. I had months of repair to do and letters to write. I only use cash or gift cards at their stores now.
Personally, I never use a debit card. IF it gets hacked, it goes directly to your checking account and can pull out everything in it. I much prefer credit cards so I have better control.
Daniela- Just as bad if you have a debit card. Ours was breached-someone moved all the money from our savings into our checking (to access it via debit card) and they spent it all. Thankfully, we caught it early, but it’s just as dangerous. Bad peoples are gonna do bad stuff either way 🙁
I keep getting fraudulent emails telling me to log into Ebay, verizon, etc accounts.. They are not really from the company they claim to be.. Not sure how to stop.. I feel like someone is in my email.. Like a keystroke virus or something.. Verrry stressful
Both my visas were used fraudulently and then the emails started
Target is hurting!! They are doing anything to get customers in their stores.
Definitely not true!!!! Our store is super busy and we don’t have enough cashiers to keep up!
Is the 10% off coupon only good for that day, or can you chose a later date to use it?
Hi Sara! Be sure to stay tuned as there should be more details to come in next week’s ad!
Sign up by May 20 and a coupon will be sent for an additional 10% off a purchase.
If you have the credit, you can open the debit for 10% coupon or vis versa 🙂
I read on the Target headquarters site alot of complaints about employees being threatened with firing if they didn’t meet a certain quota of getting customers to open a red card account. I would hope that isn’t true 😐
That’s ridiculous. Did you hear what happened with Wells Fargo bank pressuring their employees to make sales? Bad news. I used to work for Bank of America and they were ruthless about trying to make tellers sell credit cards and whatnot to clients. Even if it wasn’t in the client’s best interest financially. Sorry this is off topic. It just seems very similar to how some banks pressure employees.
