Does anyone know if this is going to be the best price? Or should I wait for Black Friday/cyber Monday?

Is it worth it?? What can u make?? Is it expensive to buy the paper| iron on material, etc. I have always wanted one, but not sure if I will use it a lot.

Yess defintaley worth it! If you are into crafting and have the spare time then I would say that it is worth it. However, it is time consuming and the cost of supplies can quickly add up. I recommend getting vinyl from websites like 651vinyl.com or from amazon, it is cheaper and better quality than the cricut brand. Iron on vinyl is around $3.25 for a 12 by 12 sheet. Typically I use 1 sheet for 2 projects. I have used my cricut to make cards, design shirts, make gifts, and make decals. Hope this information helps!

Any comments on this vs a cameo model? I cannot decide which would be easier (more cost effective) for occasional use.

I just got mine about a month ago and am loving it. I had an older model the expression that you had to buy cartridges for which get really expensive! I am doing thermal cups for Christmas for all of my kids and nieces and nephews with their name on it and something they really like. You can download images off the internet to use which is awesome i no longer have to spend all that money on cartridges. I have downloaded a gymnast, baseball glove, soccerball, basketball, variety of flowers and animals. So far i am loving it. Slowly learning the ways, but i am excited for all the future projects i will use it for as well…if only there was more time in my day….

That’s why I want one. Is the vinyl expensive? Thanks

      • Kristi

I got a variety pack online of the orical 651 that is recomended for outdoor use so they would hold up for very reasonable. I think it was 48 different colors (12×12 sheets) for 25$ or so. The cups do not take very much at all.

      • Jamiela

Iron on vinyl is the most expensive type of vinyl. It is around $3-$4 for a 12 by 12 sheet. But if you conserve the sheet and use the scraps you can use that sheet for multiple projects.

Are downloadable images free or what longterm costs do I need to be aware of? Have you used vinyl other than cricut brand? Any heatpress vinyl, cardboard or cardstock etc? Does it accept EPS or any custom graphics? I really can’t decide on benefits of cricut vs cameo now.

      • Jamiela

Hi Wendy! So you can basically download any google image and use it on cricut as long as it is a svg or png. If it is anything other than svg or png then you would need to convert it with a differnent program. You could buy the cricut access membership, however it is not necessary. My favorite HTV vinyl is from the brand Siser. I usually purchase all my vinyl from amazon or 651vinyl.com because it is cheaper than the cricut brand and works better. 651 is a permanent vinyl wheras cricut brand vinyl is not permanent. As for a heatpress, you do not need to buy one, I use just a normal iron and it works perfectely! Cardstock is needed if you are going to use your Cricut for scrapbooking or making cards. It does accept custom graphics as long as you convert it to a svg file.

Jamiela I have had all of these questions and needed someone wise to advise me! Thank you!

Has anyone see any deals on the Cameo 3?

  6. Nina

According to Cricut.com the Cricut Maker is the one that cuts through more materials, such as some woods, leathers etc. so not even sure wch is overall best

  7. Heather

These probably will be on sale more because they have released their heavu duty machine the Cricut Maker. I watched Auntie Tay’s review/comparison and if you are working with fabrics, leather or wood the Maker is the machine you will want to purchase.

  8. Michelle

The Air 1 is on the Cricut site for $149.99 (savings of $100) and if you type in freeshipnov you get free shipping. It’s a Black Friday sale. I have several and this is the one I always go back to. I recommend it. It comes in blue and purple (orchid).
