Aldi Shoppers: Benton’s Cookies Only 95¢ (Better Than Girl Scout Cookies?)
The other day we posted about Walmart’s Great Value Brand being just as good as Keebler cookies. Several readers commented that Benton’s cookies at Aldi are just as good as Keebler AND Girl Scout cookies, if not better and cost a whole lot less!
Even sweeter, they were rated Best New Product by Better Homes & Gardens!
Check out what Hip2Save Readers have to say…
Aldi coconut and peanut chocolate cookies look just like Girl Scout and Keebler, but taste better for less than half the price!
Aldi’s Samoa knockoffs are amazing. So are the chocolate covered peanut butter and double stuffed Oreo knockoffs. We love ALL of them!
I have to pretend not to see Aldi’s version of Samoa’s whenever I go. It is not safe for me as I’ll eat the whole thing – they’re so good!!
My husband loves Aldi’s Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies.

Awesome to hear!! YUM!
The peanut butter ones are sooo good. And they’re under $1!
Oh, YUM! 😋
I think the cookies at Aldis are way better than the GS cookies and way cheaper. IMO
Great to hear Ruby – thanks for sharing!
These really are far and away better than Girl Scout cookies or Keebler! Maybe because it’s a fraction of the price? Who knows!? The GS cookies in my area are $5/box. We can get 5 boxes at Aldi for the same price. No-brainer. I realize we should be supporting the girls, but there are other ways to contribute that would allot 100 percent of your donation to their troop 🙂
When my son was in Cub Scouts, we had an option of either selling $400 worth of overpriced popcorn, or paying $175 ourselves without selling anything. It’s no one’s responsibility to pay for my child to participate so I paid for it rather than pestering family, friends, and co-workers. I don’t think you should feel that you “should be supporting them”. That’s my opinion.
Yes, to all of this!!!^
If you’re feeling “pestered”, your scout is going way too far! Lol
I don’t like to sell over priced stuff either and would rather just pay to participate. I didn’t even ask my family just complained about how overpriced they were. But each of my family members bought a few boxes because they wanted to support my kid and told me I should have just asked.
We’re also a snow state and most cookie booths are outside 😒
As a Den Leader in an area where a lot of kids have parents that simply can’t afford to just pay whatever the dues are, please think of popcorn or cookies as a thank you gift from the scouts for your donation. A lot of kids have to try to sell this stuff just to be able to participate.
Unfortunately the popcorns are really expensive. We paid $25 for a bag of caramel corn for a family friend merely under obligation for club scout. There was nothing under $20, and it’s very hard to refuse when kids come knocking on the door with parents. I wish they had other ways of fundraising!
Do you know how much the troop receives per box? My daughter is in GS and I was really disappointed when I was told the troop only receives about .34 cents per box! 😕
Well said, Bernice! We are all Hip2savers so that we can save money in order to do more for our families. I think that it should be our personal responsibility to decide which activities are most important for our children and then to pay for these activities. And, hopefully, saving money with sites like Hip2Save makes these activities possible!! We don’t expect other people to pay for soccer, gymnastics, dance, music lessons, etc. It’s also a shame that the troops only get such a relatively small amount from the sale of each box. And, yes, I am pestered to buy cookies every time I enter a grocery store….and, pestered again as I leave the same store.
That’s really nice of you. We have bought unwanted cookies so many times out of courtesy.
My family loves all of Aldi’s cookies, and you can’t beat the price compared to name brands. Imo, they don’t taste “generic.” I also like that none of Aldi’s products have artificial coloring since one of my kids is extremely sensitive to food dyes.
Thanks for sharing Ashley! That’s great to hear!
Girl Scouts thin mints don’t contain peanuts like Aldi brand does so I’ll continue buying Girls Scouts ones.
There is a cookie factory in my area and they make both the girl scout cookies and the Benton brand. The only difference is the package. On a side note Girl scout cookies are made in several locations around the country.
Yes, they are delicious!
I’ll be making my first aldi trip tomorrow. What do you recommend?
Bring a quarter for the cart and reusable bags. Be prepared for a super fast check out where they place everything in your cart. You’ll have to bag it yourself.
Also any special buy is only there for a short amount of time. If you like something, but it as it might not be there tomorrow. Happy shopping 🙂
Thank you!
Check their produce section for great sale prices and unexpected markdowns. Same for their artisan cheeses. I haven’t been there for about a week, but they had some great seasonal varieties this year. The Rustic Red Cheddar was a hit at my house.
You won’t be disappointed. Which state are you In? I use mayo, ketchup, chips, salad dressing mustard , seasoning, canned vegetables, can milk just to name a few. Happy shopping
Just moved to Texas from Nevada 😉
Also they guarantee their products. If your not satisfied bring it back for a full refund.
I like Aldi, but I was double scanned on an item today. I had a huge order and didn’t realize it at first, because they are just so fast at putting products in your cart. I showed my receipt and products to the cashier and they gave me my money back. Bring your own bags, which is good for the environment anyways 🙂 You can’t get everything there, but I go there and then to Kroger or Meijer for the few other things I need. What I like, is that I don’t have to play the sales like at the other grocery stores. And the products taste just like other name brand products. I could go on and on 🙂
Thank you 🙂
The only thing I don’t care for is their bread and buns. Everything else is amazing! Bags of whole unsalted almonds are only 4.99. It’s twice that or more for name brand at other stores. Their mayo, salad dressing, spices, butter, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, cheese, produce…..all good. Just spent $55 there today and my fridge is packed! The only other thing not mentioned is that you get your cart before you go in and have to take it back, no cart corrals in the lot. But usually another shopper will give you a quarter for your cart and save you the trip:)
There are many awesome things about Aldi and so many have been mentioned already. It’s one of my main stores to shop at for groceries however, I will say that some of the fruits and vegetables can go bad quicker than other grocery stores. Aldi is working hard to go non-GMO, dye free and they have an awesome selection of gluten-free products so I always wonder if their fruits and vegetables have less pesticides and that’s why they don’t have as long of a shelf life. They are committed to save money in many unconventional ways so getting your own shopping cart and grocery bags is one way that they keep prices low. Also that $0.25 in your cart is so it motivates you to return it to the cart area right next to the door so they don’t have to pay employees to go hunt them down in a parking lot. And believe it or not, they want you to return items you don’t like because it indicates to them how well that product is doing. If you don’t like it even though you ate the whole pizza, you could bring back just the empty box and they will still give you all of your money back! Another thing is you can return an item without a receipt. I had a steam mop that was a special buy and it broke after 3 months and I didn’t return it because I lost the receipt. I mentioned something to a manager after a year later and they said I should definitely return it and they will give me back a full refund. I did and they gave me back the whole amount! Aldi is an awesome store to shop at!
If you like to buy organic, Aldi keeps expanding their products. In MA, a 1/2 gallon of organic milk is only $2.95, organic cage free eggs are $2.99/dozen, and one pound of organic grass fed ground beef is $4.99. It seems that most of their organic items are under the Simply Nature label. I also love that they’ve eliminated all synthetic colors from their products because of customer feedback. It’s hard not to love a company that listens to its customers and makes changes based on that feedback.
Milk, eggs, butter, bread. Soooooo cheap! They are all half the SALE price at my local grocery store.
Last year I had my family do a blind taste test of Girl Scout thin mints vs. Aldi brand. Guess which one won?!?! The Aldi brand. I do purchase GS cookies since I have a GS, but once they are gone we go right back to Aldi!
WOW, so interesting Kristen!! That is awesome!
My husband’s customer gave him a box of the coconut kind and I was curious to see where the brand was carried. So you guys answered my question! He wouldn’t eat them but I’m not as picky and they looked like the girlscout kind so I gave then a try and I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were
All their cookies are high quality and taste amazing, some even better than Girl Scouts and for a fraction of the cost! I’ve gotten family members hooked!
Awesome! Happy to hear they have been so well liked! 😉
Off topic, but does anyone know when the app will be working with androids again?? TIA
mine is already working-there was an update for it
Hi Faith! It should be working for you now! If not, be sure to reinstall and restart your mobile device! Let us know if that does not help!
The peanut butter ones are delish and only 95 cents! Can’t beat it!
YUM! Thanks for sharing your favorite variety! 😉
We love Aldi cookies of all kinds. Don’t miss the maple leaf cookies next fall. We prefer their ‘Oreos’ over the real ones.
I second the maple leaf cookies!! I tried them for the first time this past fall & couldn’t get enough of them!! I’ve never tasted anything like them…SO GOOD! Everyone in the house loves them. They’re definitely going to be a staple in this house every fall from here on out!
Thanks for taking a moment to comment Lana! Happy you have enjoyed all of them!
I have not tried these cookies bu I will now I just got an Aldi in my hometown in October and so far all the products I have tried are wonderful and the prices are great. I am so happy that ALDI is here in my home town. Collin I would love for Hip2save to include ALDI weekly s[ecials and reader favorite products when possible.
Thanks so much for the suggestion Eva! I will pass this along to the team! 😉
I love love love Aldi!!!! Saves my family ALOT of money!! And yes their cookies are delish!
Glad to hear that Gordy!
I agree that the Samoa knockoffs are awesome, and of course love the price. Can’t wait to try some other varieties now!
Yep- they taste great. But I love giving to a good cause….so I buy GS cookies when they’re available
These are by far better than the girl scout cookies and much cheaper ! I have tried all of these except the pecan shortbread.
I have been buying these from Aldi and they definitely taste the same.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I like the fudge mint and the fudge striped. Don’t really care for the chewy chocolate chip. I prefer (Nabisco’s).
My family has tried all of the line of cookies and they are so good. Sorry Girl Scouts, but won’t be ordering any cookies this year.
Love them too but they’re more than a dollar in South Florida.
My kids LOVE the chewy chocolate chip. They are one of the few things at Aldi I personally don’t care for. Their fudge stripes are too good though!
Good to know your kids have enjoyed the chewy chocolate chip! Thanks for the feedback!
I love their cookies and other products and i used to shop at aldis all the time in Florida but since I’ve moved here to ct and it’s right down the road I’m sorry to say i haven’t because i can’t walk so much anymore and now i go to stop and shop only because they have battery powered rideable carts and you don’t. Alot more senior citizens would shop at your store if you provided such service.
Have you ever mention that to the corporate office? Now that many of them have renovated their stores, their aisles are wider and they could probably accommodate them now. I have had a torn meniscus and have used the carts from time to time and I know they are a great help. I’m grateful that I can walk if necessary but it would be very helpful for those who can’t and want to shop at Aldi.
That might be something to bring up to management. Stop and shop can be a bit expensive. I’m in Ct. I go to all 3 of them the one in Derby is my favorite
If you want amazing cookies BAKE THEM YOURSELF #girl scout cookies are not about the cookie- but about the girl standing behind them learning to be assertive, brave, and confident about herself.
oh my goodness, I’ll have to try out the mint cookies! I love thin mints!
Me too! That one is my favorite for sure!
Those cookies are extremely delicious! Not only are they better than Girl Scout cookies but I swear there are more in the bag then in a Girl Scout box.
Oh my goodness, I have a problem with the Samoa type Girl Scout cookies!!! Actually just bought a pack this week and um, had them gone before I was done grocery shopping 😬😬😬 I love their Benton cookies!
I I love all these grocery store they are amazing they have great prices and I love the flowers when they have them on sale and also they have great meat as well and those Tomatoes diced they are delicious and those cookies looks like Girl Scout cookies and they taste just like Girl Scout cookies they are amazing and by the way my ex husband Jeffrey David Grubb he drives y’all’s truck and delivers to you all just thought I’d throw that in there he’s been with the company about three four years I guess maybe longer I don’t know he’s my ex-husband he started after we got a divorce and everything and they give great Christmas bonuses as well the ham or something but anyway as I was saying that’s my ex Jeffrey David girl and I’ll talk to you later and I love shopping at your store
Thank You
Anita Grubb
I agree! I have had a few different kinds, and they are great! My store runs about $1.39/package, but still a deal!
The BEST cookies , especially for the price! I don’t know what my family would do without Aldi.
I’ve never bought any of these cookies because of the sugar content. The only cookies I buy from Alidi’s are the fig newtons. It’s my attempt at trying to be healthy. I think they sell for .98 cents. Far cheaper than the name brand, which are so expensive. However, I think it’s time for me to give them a shot too. Thanks!
You’re welcome Bryant! Hoping you enjoy them as well!
The peanut butter ones are amazing! I loved the Girl Scout ones until I tried these. Bonus is the price!
Yay, so glad to hear that, Mandi D!
This article saddens me. The money is going to support the girls not to pay for cookies!!!! Boyscouts charge $20 for popcorn. Yes I can get great tasting popcorn cheaper. How ever these cheap knock off cookies or cheap popcorn is not the point. It’s that you are supporting the youth and help so many experience opportunities they would not otherwise get. It’s not about the product!
Thanks a bunch for your comment Angela! We are only sharing as readers have mentioned these as a yummy option for a bit less. It is always great to support your local troops as well!
These cookies are soooo YUM! I’ve sold. SO MANY boxes of GS 🍪. Between my GS days and on to my 2 daughters. These cookies are 100% as yum as GS 🍪! And you CAN’T BEAT THIS $$
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I buy these all the time and keep some around for those chocolate cravings! Love
It is true they are less expensive than Girl Scout cookies. But the fact is, Girl Scout cookies are about way more than simply the cookie itself. The Girl Scout cookie business is the largest girl run business in the world! Girls learn to make a marketing plan, set goals, customer service skills, money management, business ethics, and more from selling the Girl Scout cookies. If you ask me, that is a pretty good investment from my $3.50 box of Thin Mints.
Couldn’t agree more
I agree these are better and cheaper than girl scouts. Also dollar general has a good tasting ones too!
Sweet! Thanks for sharing another option Melanie!
Great to hear these positive responses. We are waiting for our store to open in the Christiansburg, VA area. I have been watching the ads and stuff. There is a store about 40 miles away but I’ve never been to it. Can’t wait to see what’s coming. One thing what is the cart thing about? I get the bring your own bags but not the cart. Would someone explain it to me please so I know what to do when I get there!
Barbara, The cart system is really easy. In order to not have to pay an employee to gather carts from the parking lot, Aldi’s “encourages” the customer to return their own cart. They do this by a little box that is fixed to the handle of the cart. There is a chain hooked on the box that is connected to the cart in front of it. When you arrive at the store the carts will be in an outside area. You take your quarter, put it it into the slot in the box on the first cart and it will disconnect the chain coming from the cart behind it. Go do your shopping. After you are done loading your car you return your cart to the area outside the store, push it into the line of carts and take the chain from the cart ahead and push it back into the box on your cart. Your quarter will be ejected for you to take back.
I’m gonna have to make a trip to Aldis tomorrow!
Yay! Happy shopping!
My husband loves to talk about Aldi’s business model in his economics classes. It’s smart, fast, and passes on the savings to the consumers. I can hardly stand to go anywhere else – they all seem so slow anymore!! We LOVE Aldi.
I will buy these and of course, I will buy Girl Scout cookies and Boy Scout popcorn. I get to Aldi about once a month and am always happy with what I find.
Fudge mint cookies are the best .better than girl scout cookies!
Also Benton cookies are as good or better than Girl Scout cookies and way better price!
When I was in girl scouts I always sold 100 boxes of cookies. I always wanted the badge prize. I never realized only .10 a box went to our troop until I quit in 10th grade. I should have just donated my own money it would have been safer and a lot less work.
😳Our troop get 60〜80cents per box.
I don’t think the point here is to drive sales away from the Girl Scouts. I tend to buy every year from them, however, they are gone very quickly (family of 7). It is nice to have the option of the same flavor cookie when it’s not GS cookie “season” and at an affordable price for our large family to all get to enjoy without arguing over them.
THE POINT OF BUYING GIRL SCOUT COOKIES IS TO HELP THE GIRL SCOUTS. MOST PEOPLE REALIZE GIRL SCOUT COOKIES ARE NOT A BARGAIN. CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS EVEN A TOPIC OF DISCUSSION. WOW!
Teach the girl scouts how to make the cookies…then I will buy them for 5 dollars a box
We have an Aldi’s nearby–actually we have TWO of them (one in Youngstown, OH and one in Niles, OH), and I love their products. Their chips taste getter than Lays and Ruffles, their meats are on a par with any from a higher-priced store, their produce is fantastic, oh, I could go on and on! I shopped there the say after Christmas and found several 24-piece noxes of Toffeefay for $1.99 each.
Aldi’s aren’t brand snobs and yes, there are some products that i cannot find there, but I do the bulk of my shopping there.
Thanks for the info about Benton cookies…I shall add them to my list!
A friend and I just discussed Aldi’s great prices this morning. I’ve bought and tried a few flavors of Aldi’s cookies and all are delicious. The fudge mints are my favorite. Pop them in the freezer for a few hours and enjoy!
Yum! Thanks for the tip!
