This information was not in the fine print earlier when this post was first published so we apologize for any confusion.

OR you can opt to cancel your membership with a full refund via either e-gift card or a check.

Follow These Simple Steps to Extend Your Membership:
- Go HERE and click the first ‘free 3-month extension offer’ option
- Enter your member number and information
- That’s IT! You should receive your confirmations within 2 minutes!
When submitting your request, you will receive a confirmation email that your request is being processed. If the home address they have on file is not associated with a closing club, you will be notified with a second email in 3-5 business days with further instructions.
After yesterday’s news of this company’s treatment of their employees, I’ll pass. Sticking with Costco.

if you read the details they are actually being given a much better exit situation financially than most employers do in this situation.

We prefer Costco too and we’re members of both. I’ll go Sams but will skip Walmart.

Is this just for new customers?
I am an existing customer and it let me tack on three months to the end of my membership. My annual membership is nowhere near expiring.
The link also leads you to two additional options. One is to cancel your membership and get an electronic refund of your full membership fee. The other is to cancel your membership and get a paper check refund. So for those who are unhappy with Sam’s and want to cancel your membership, there you go.
I agree! People are so quick to get bent out of shape lol. If you want to cancel your membership do so! I extended mine three months; we just renewed last month but I’ll take an extra three months, thanks Sam’s! Also we are a member of both Sam’s and Costco and I prefer Sam’s.

I still have Sams membership and shop there. Plus my husband likes the pharmacy and how nice they have been. Costco is quite a distance from me. Wish it was closer as I have been wanting to try it. I’m not happy with the Sams closures and little or no notice to employees or customers.
Thank you! I do remember COSTCO’s disaster with their credit card switch and how many unhappy customers they had at that time. No, I do not agree with how Sam’s handle it but I’ll still shop with them. I’ve had NO problems with Customer Service. They have gone above and beyond for me.

Will this work if you membership is expired already?
I’m wondering the same thing too but I left my card at home so I couldn’t fill out the form.
My membership expired in December and I filled out the form. Got the confirmation email saying I was good to go.
I did the same, but when I checked it online it said it was still expired even though I got the email.
Same here! Mine expired 2 weeks ago, but it still says expired on the Sam’s Club app. I think I’ll give them a call later today.

Thank you for the post, thankfully our store isn’t on the list. We love our sams club and opted for the extension in hopes we can keep our neighbors employed and stores open! Maybe we should all opt for in store pick up or drive to the stores to shop rather than online, I feel it’s affecting all brick and block stores now days.

Does anyone know when this 3 months will actually show up on our membership? I just checked mine after doing it yesterday and it still has my original expiration date. Just curious. But I did get the confirmation email right away.
The site said “Effective within 7 days of request”.

It says on the page when you click on the link effective within 7 days. So it’s probably still processing!

Thanks! Is there a way to determine if our local club is on the list or not? I saw a list yesterday but it only had 36 clubs on it and ours wasn’t listed but I’ve heard they’re adding more clubs to that list unfortunately
I read in an article that you can go to the store locator to determine if your club is included in the closures. Those that are closing were removed from the site. I actually live by 2 clubs. One is closing and the other is remaining open. When I put in my zip code, The closest store that popped up was the one that is remaining.

What I love about Sams? Their App “Scan & go” Scan every item and pay with your phone, skip the line! Awesome! Awesome! I love it! Believe me! Give it a try! (I love Costco too, but the long lines here in TX… forget it, I’m not going)

Sorry but why bother. If they are going to close stores without any notice and cause people (both customers and employees) all of the worry and problems then no thank you! Really surprised it was handled this way!

While i dont like that they didnt give notice to employees they are giving them a great 60 days pay and preference in job placement. Much more than most companies give anyone who is let go. I will extend mine for the 3 months. Hopefully they dont close any additional store locations.
Hi, I don’t have a membership but my friend does. Does anyone know if Sam’s club or Costco has cheaper prices on beer and liquor? I need to buy a decent amount for my wedding coming up soon and didn’t know the best place to buy for cheaper. Thank you! 🙂
Think that’s state dependent. Husband says ours is the same price no matter what. Also believe you can buy alcohol without a membership but I’m in Ohio where you can’t buy liquor on Sunday 😂 also saw that in Kansas

Why would you need an extension if you’re closing up? Doesn’t make much sense. Mine isn’t closing and I did the extension but will keep an eye on my email.

I could not get it to work because I had an adblock extension turned on. Once I turned it off, it worked.

They closed 60 stores on Florida over night with no notice! Be careful!

Something to look into before you cancel if you have the Sam’s Club master card. If you cancel are you going to lose any cash back you’ve accumulated?? I was going to cancel my membership when I moved and there are no warehouses near me but I thought I read in fine print somewhere that if I cancelled before my membership was up I lost the cash back. I might be wrong but you might want to verify that before you cancel.
