I am on my second contract with VIPKID, and I love it!!!! I used to teacher 3rd grade, and quit my job this year to stay home with my boys, and working with VIPKID helps make this happen. It also helps me feel like I am doing something else besides just being a mom. LOL! But I get to wear my PJ’S while doing it, and don’t have to leave the house!!!
Another current VIPKID teacher here! I absolutely LOVE the flexibility this wonderful job gives me and my family. I am able to continue staying home with my two young kiddos while still contributing to our family’s finances.
I am almost a year into my first contract and love this job! I have quit working at my local school district because the flexibility and pay have been better with VIPKID. I hope others can find the same satisfaction and success with VIPKID that I have, total dream job for the stay at home mom!
I have worked with VIPKID for one month and absolutely love it! I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom and I finally have found a job I can do that doesn’t take me away from my family!! I work early in the morning while my kids are asleep and Frid/Sat evenings. It is so fun and little to no stress. I’m telling you ladies (and guys who do VERY well at this position) I made $1k in my first month!! I was elated because I seriously felt like I hardly worked.
I am just over half way through my first contract with VIPKID. I LOVE IT! It has given our family some awesome opportunities that we would otherwise not have. We will be traveling the US in an RV – WHILE still working for VIPKID. You can be entirely location independent . There are teachers all over the world and many that travel full time while still teaching. I currently stay home with our children and homeschool. This job allows me to work early in the day or late in the day without disrupting our regular schooling and life activities.
I’m about to sign my second contract and have loved working for VIPkid. I would be happy to answer any questions or help anyone through the interview process! Here is my referral link!

hi! I signed up and have an interview scheduled for this coming Tuesday. I am excited but nervous! How is the interview? What did you do your lesson plan on? Do they give you a topic for your interview lesson? Thanks!
I can help you with any questions you have or help you might need. Just email me at hhheart521@yahoo.com. I had no one to help me but needed someone, so I’m here if you do.
There are videos on YouTube to help you.
Is this legit? Are there any real people that have done this and can attest to it’s validity? I’m such a skeptic!
Yes! Totally legit! I work for them and love it. Super flexible and they provide all the lesson plans. E-mail me if you have any questions! I’d be happy to answer them
Taxes…do you have to do your own as self employed, or does the company do them for you?
I have worked with VIPKID for about 2.5 years now. You are considered an independent contractor and are responsible for your own taxes.
Do you have to have teaching experience?
Hi DT! Yes – you do need to have some sort of teaching experience, but it does not have to be in a traditional classroom. If you have any experience working with kids for at least a year – give it a try! I know there is a great need for teachers right now. I just started working for VIPKID in December so I am familiar with the interview process so let me know if I can help you along the way! If you sign up through my link I can contact you via e-mail once you have signed up on their website.

VIPKID is a great job! Those of you on the fence should give it try. It is such fun to teach these kids and be a part of their success. I enjoy every bit of it. And it has fit right into my life with hardly any effort. I teach before my kids are up and after they are in bed. If you want a mentor, click the link below and I will reach out to you. Thanks!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience Jessica! Good to know how happy you have been working for VIPKID!
How long does it usually take from application time to interview time to starting teaching?
Hi! It usually takes 1-2 weeks from your first interview to being hired depending on how quickly you work through the steps! If you are interested I would be happy to walk through the steps with you! https://t.vipkid.com.cn/activity/popup?refereeId=6783306&refersourceid=a01 or feel free to email me at laurenmac10@gmail.com with any additional questions you may have! 🙂
It can vary based on the applicants choices quite a bit. Mine took about 10 days from first application to first class taught. BUT- that is different for every person.
What time is it at in CST
Use worldtimebuddy.com to look at your own time zone and Beijing. Anytime a child would not be in school or sleeping would be viable teaching times. I teach daily from 6-8 and Friday/ Saturday evening from 7-10. Daylight savings changes these by one hour. So do school breaks and holidays. I could work much earlier in the morning and much later at night if I chose to. It is all up to you!
What are the requirements to apply? Do they need transcript?
Hi Charm! As long as you have a Bachelor’s degree and can take a picture of your diploma (that’s what I did!) then you do not need a transcript. If you are interested I would be happy to walk through the steps with you! https://t.vipkid.com.cn/activity/popup?refereeId=6783306&refersourceid=a01 or feel free to email me at laurenmac10@gmail.com with any additional questions you may have! 🙂

I’m very interested in this. I have a bachelors degree but not in education. Most of my “teaching” experience is working with my own children. I have a more medical background. Could I qualify?
Hi! I’d love to answer your questions. Email me at natalienichole4@yahoo.com.
Hi Michele! As long as your experience with children has been longer than 1 year it does not have to be in a formal setting. You can use any nannying, coaching, tutoring, etc that you have done in the past. I have had some teachers say that they volunteered with their church and that counted as well. If you worked with children in the medical field – that could count as well. You never know until you try! I would just put down anything you can think of to give yourself a higher chance of moving on to an interview. If you qualify they will usually e-mail you back to set up an interview within 24 hours.
Good luck! If you need any help though the process – my link is below. 🙂 (This will send me an e-mail so that I can contact you via e-mail and I will also receive credit and a bonus for helping along another teacher.)

Hello! I just wanted to add that if you are interested, but are concerned about time it can work for you too! I am also a full-time classroom teacher and I am able to do both. You do not have to be available all week. I teach for VIPKID only on the weekends and I do get booked by students! I make myself available for booking by the students on Friday evenings (8pm-11pm), Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6am-9am). Ocassionally I will add a few hours on Saturday evenings as well. This works for my family and I do not feel overwhelmed with both jobs because they are not happening at the same time. This also adds a great extra income for my family throughout the year!
I recently went through the hiring process (November) so if you would like some advice or have any questions feel free to sign up through my link and I will contact you via e-mail. I am happy to help out! The interview and Mock teaching lesson can be a little intimidating, but once you get hired it is so much fun to work with these students!

Do you know if Monday through Thursday evenings work as far as bookings? I would love to look into this, but not sure I could do the early mornings during the week.
What determines how much you make hourly? It says $14 – $22 hourly
A few things will determine your pay, your experience and how you do on your interview. I think it’s pretty common to make 18-20 an hour. After you’ve worked for them for a year you are available to receive a raise. They offer different incentives so sometimes you can even make a little more. Let me know if you have any other questions. https://t.vipkid.com.cn?refersourceid=e01&refereeId=7366751

What determines how much you make hourly? It says $14 to $22 hourly
Hi Jill!
They will determine your pay rate at your interview. This amount is based upon your experience, highest education level and performance during the interview. They will explain it all during the interview in great detail. 🙂 They will explain is by your base pay per class (2 classes = 1 hour).
For example: $8 per class = $16 per hour
However – they give you bonuses, such as, $1 per class for being on time.
$1 per class for teaching more than 45 in a month, etc.
Hope that helps!

Thanks!
I recently started working and am also a full time classroom kindergarten teacher. Would love to help anyone out. Just email me your questions at jacinda.claibourn@gmail.com!
What kind of technology do you need?
Hi Karen!
You need to have a laptop (PC or MAC), headphones with a microphone and a webcam. I did purchase an external webcam for my laptop, but I actually purchased a new laptop and have been using the built-in webcam to teach without any issues. On the VIPKID website it discusses which requirements your laptop should have as well. You also need an educational background on the wall behind your laptop, but I just purchased some items from the Dollar Tree so it didn’t cost more than $5 total.

You are very welcome! Thanks a bunch for all of your feedback Katrina! SO appreciated!
Do you get paid fully or a portion if they no show?
I wish my associates degree and experience of over 15 years educating children counted for something when I applied for this position but unfortunately it didn’t.
Can you use a regular computer, or does it have to be a laptop? Also, I don’t get how the lessons are organized. If the lessons are scripted out but the kids are different, how do you know what to do for each lesson? Is it stressful trying to figure that out?
Hi Amy!
You can use a desktop computer and many teachers do. The specific tech requirements are on the VIPKID website. I use a laptop because that is what I have at my house. A lot of teachers say that they prefer a desktop because the screen is bigger. The lessons are organized by Level, Unit and lesson. You will be able to preview the slides prior to the lesson on the website or using the app. VIPKID provides the PPT for you and it will already be uploaded to your virtual classroom. Above each slide are tips for the teacher and goals for the student. However, only the teacher can see this box. It is nice to check in to make sure you are providing the correct questions and helping students to get to the answer needed to continue with the lesson.
To answer you question about – Is it stressful to figure out? The answer is yes and no. 🙂 At first, when you are going through the interview and hiring process it can seem very stressful because you want your lesson to be perfect for your mentor teacher and the person who interviews you. However, it is not stressful for me now that I have been teaching for about a month. I have already taught several repeat classes so for those I am very familiar. Before each lesson, I look over the slides and figure out what materials I need (letter cards, props, etc.) and then I am ready to go! It only takes a few minutes prior to each lesson to prepare.
I am happy to help you through the hiring process! You can use my link: (I do get a bonus if you begin teaching with VIPKID.)

You can use a laptop or computer. You just need to make sure you have a camera. You can use an internal one, or an external one. Each kid is already assigned the lessons. There is a whole VIPKID platform. You go into your class for that time, and it will only give you one option of lesson to load. You also have access to lessons/powerpoints the day before the class. It might be a little overwhelming at first, but that is why there are other vipkid teachers out there to help you. Once you have taught your first real lesson, you will see it is not that stressful at all. It is all laid out for you. Trial classes are the only lessons you have to decide what level they should be, but most of the time their is suggestion of level and yo go from there. Let me help you get hired!!! Please use my link, and I will help coach you through the hiring process!!! Not only do I help you along the way through your interview, mock classes, contract and give you tips to getting booked right away, I also send all my successful new hires a custom VIPKID tshirt, so be sure to use my code!!! https://t.vipkid.com.cn/?refereeId=5036148&refersourceid=a01 If you have any questions before hand feel free to email me at katrinadavis1312@gmail.com

Hi Bessie!
You can reapply right away with a different e-mail address or wait 6 months and use the same e-mail address. I am happy to help you through the process and will send you an e-mail.
Rhonda
I have both a Bachelor’s degree & paid experience working with kids. The biggest concern I have is that without experience teaching formally or preparing lesson plans that it will be hard to get through the hiring process. Can anyone give any suggestions that would help?
YouTube, girl!!!
Hi T. Coole!
This is such a different type of teaching experience that it is much less stressful. I am currently teaching a lot of level 1 students (who are preschool age) and I think about what I would do to entertain/teach my own children who are similar in age. It is about helping them to learn the language, but also engaging them and having fun at the same time. Using props and helpful objects to connect with them helps a lot!
I also made sure that I was familiar with each lesson prior to teaching the class. You have access to each PPT before your teaching time and I just go through each slide and think about what props I have that would help me implement the learning or make it easier for them to understand. I would be happy to discuss strategies with you.
When you sign up just use my referral link and it will connect us! (I also get a referral credit for helping you.)
