I’m Wearing Walmart From Head to Toe… Yes or No? Let Me Know!
I’m so excited to introduce a new series here on the blog and on our Hip2Save Instagram account. Every Wednesday, I’m putting together a complete outfit head to toe – all purchased from Walmart! I did a little shopping last week, and you guys – I was so surprised by what I found. To be honest, I guess I’ve never really looked at the clothes at Walmart before, but I’m so pumped to share these outfits with you.
My goal while shopping at Walmart was to find regular priced clothes, rather than clearance items, so I could share deals that were available to everyone, everywhere. That being said, I do realize that you can find lower priced items when you shop the HOT Walmart clearance deals we post on Hip2Save, but this is a great alternative if you need something now, and don’t want to wait and watch for a deal.
I had so much fun putting these outfits together and the prices were so good! I even included jewelry and shoes too!
So let’s get to it! Here is my first Walmart Wednesday outfit. Drumroll please…. 🥁

Yay! Happy to hear that.
Wow such great deals! I love Walmart!
Collin ,you look adorable thanks for this post I never knew you could get clothes like this at Walmart either , God bless and keep up the good work
Thank you for the encouragement. I really appreciate it! 🙂
Yes i love it .
Not everyone can pull off that shirt but it works on you! Thumbs up!
Thank YOU!
You got me! I couldn’t tell if it was a top from Anthro.
Yay! I was surprised too when I spotted it in-store!
Love this idea!!
I love their new base ball shirts. The majority of what I’m wearing today is from there! I like the shirt you are wearing too.
Awesome!!! I’m loving It. I can’t believe it’s Walmart…:-/
I know, right?! 😮
Yes! We are a Walmart head to toe.
The clothes are cute, but I’ve always found that the quality of Wal-Mart clothes was low. What did you think of the quality of these?
Right…how many washes will these clothes last. That’s where you have to weigh the price of quality vs quantity.
I have found that walmart clothes generally last longer than I keep clothes for, and the quality is certainly not less than the quality of boutique clothing that is 3x the price and made from the same types of fabrics in the same foreign countries. I have a basic brown sweater I bought at walmart nearly 15 years ago that has been worn hundreds of times and it is still in great shape. Overall it is a very inexpensive place to add a few trendy/seasonal pieces to your wardrobe.
Faded Glory is a great brand and to my knowledge, most items are 100% cotton.
I also have faced the same problem with quality of the fabric. After a few washes the clothes look faded and become rough.
I think it depends on the items… some of the clothing pieces seem like nice quality to me while others not so much. I personally was really impressed with their inexpensive tank tops and the jean jeggings.
Clothes I h t from tj max and Marshall’s last less than a year usually. (We have 1 season here). I’ve had some pieces form Walmart for years. Jeans/shorts 5-6 years old, tanks 3-4 years, blouses 2+ yeats and they are not faded or have holes or they look new.
It depends on if you know how to use a washing machine too. Cold – light- tide free-do NOT over dry take out when dry if your dryer doesn’t have a automatic setting check every 25 min or so. Heavy cycle damages clothing, hot water damages clothing, and over drying damages clothing. Using cheap or homemade detergent can cause clothes to not get cleaned properly I tried that and noticed a huge difference.
I thought the same thing but I purchased a pair of yoga pants from Victoria’s Secret for $50 and a pair of yoga pants from Walmart for $10 and my Walmart ones out lasted my VS ones by far. My only complaint about the Walmart ones were thinner and therefore I was colder wearing them but other than that they rocked.
I stopped buying from walmart years ago, when my kids were still in pre-school ( they’re 20 and 21 now). The quality is poor, it’s just a waste of money. Even now, I find lots of cute tops there, but never bought one because I’m not sure if it’ll hold up after washing them a few times.
Agreed! They either shrink or fall apart. I think they do have cute clothes but they do not last.
I agree. I used to shop Wal-Mart clothes for my kids but stopped when I started getting name brand clothes for super cheap on clearance at places like jcpenny, Dillard, target, crazy 8, etc. The other day I was in a pinch for more pants for my 3 year old and happened on a shelf full of 2$ shirts and 3$ cargos in greys, navy blue, blacks, and khaki, I bought him a whole new wardrobe for under 20$. They are fantastic quality and stains come out so easy compared to children Place and crazy 8 clothing.
Walmart usually is a great place to buy kid basics. I noticed them and old navy stand up pretty well to my kid using her shirt as a napkin. Lol
That’s funny…lol! I have 3 children and we have lots of Walmart basic clothes and even cute outfits that have been worn and washed over and over and they are in great shape! We love the garanimals clothing! Very inexpensive and cute as well!! 👍🏼 ❤️ We love Walmart!!😄
I bought their Hanes sweatpants for boys twice, both times the seams were ripped in the crotch the first time I washed them after one wearing. I haven’t had any problems with their shirts.
Thanks for the honest feedback!
Popping in from my desktop to comment since my app no longer allows me to comment–I just HAD to comment on this!! Just when I thought I couldn’t love Hip2Save any more than I already do . . . Yes! Love this! I find random cute things at Walmart often. I am sooooo excited to see this every week!
Yay!! Thanks for the comment. I am SO happy to hear that! 😃
Aw, I like the elephant necklace. I love my denim jeggings. The dark indigo looks sharp. Thanks for the show n tell here since I don’t have Instagram.
You bet! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I love this idea, thanks for posting!
I needed some black flats for work very badly, certainly can’t beat $6!!
🙌
I bought these jeggings a few weeks ago and was disappointed. The inner seam on the legs start to twist within a few minutes of wearing them – maybe just a bad pair? But something to be mindful of!
Oh bummer! I was curious about how well they will hold up. I haven’t washed them yet, but will definitely keep you all posted.
You look great! I bought some of the clearance $2.50 leggings from a cpl weeks ago from Walmart and I was surprised by the really good quality. And they are super cute, too! 🙂 Win! Win!
WOW! $2.50?! THAT ROCKS!
I love those little tanks! I have so many of them!
I agree. I love the tanks!
LOVE THIS!!! I often get fashion ideas on pinterest or from well dressed co workers and then go to Walmart.com to see if I can find something similar. 🙂
That’s so fun… love that you do that! 🙂
Super cute outfit!!
Thank you!
Also could everyone tell me their favorite pants… I don’t like jeans they r not comfortable to me… Or am I just wearing the wrong jeans… 😂 thank u!!!
I’ve gotten jeans from american eagle for the last 15 years! Cheap, cute and durable! Took me from my teens into my 30’s. I’ve tried more expensive brands – rock and republic, sevens, etc… I like banana republic’s too, but I always go back to AE. 🙂 they fit me better.
My go to for jeans is Old Navy! I am addicted now that I found just the right cut for me (Many different cuts) and they offer short so that is even better for me! Good luck searching!
American Eagle Skinny leggings are my favorite! They’re often buy one, get one 1/2 off. They don’t cause muffin top and the don’t lose their shape as the day progresses.
I like Costco jeans I don’t know the brand but not Calvin Klein I want to say Vanessa something they are $14.99/16.99 and as long as they are the right size and they come in lengths (short regular and tall) I can wear them all day. Only jeans I can wear. They cover muffin top without being “mom jeans”.
I typically a jcrew, loft and banana girl but I swear by the cotton camis that are $1.68. I have them in several colors. I like that it’s cotton so it can breathe and skinny straps. Most of the skinny strap ones have the built in bra. I wear those camis under all my clothes in the winter for an extra layer. But I don’t get super hot with synthetic fabric. They don’t shrink and keep their shape after multiple washings.
Yes to cute.😍
I absolutely love that blue top.
I just bought a pair of work pants from Walmart. They came in a long length. These pants are so comfortable!! They were marked $19.99 but they rang up $12.00.
Oh awesome… do you remember what brand? I’ll have to look for them next time I’m there.
What was the inseam? I can never find long enough at places like Walmart/target..
Collin, you look so beautiful in your new outfit 🙂
Awww… thank you!
Honestly, Walmart clothes look better on me than the fancy name brands – unless it’s SUPER expensive. I’d rather have the quantity over quality. Is that bad? 🤓
I’m with you Mabos.
I just can’t bring myself to purchase Walmart clothing any longer (or Target or H&M) – how is it possible to sell a tanktop for $4 and make a profit after accounting for material, labor, overhead costs, and wastage? I have a feeling costs are cut in the labor category, and I just can’t support those sweatshop conditions any more. Perhaps worth a thought before hitting checkout?
I agree most of the workers just don’t get paid. The slave traders do. And not much. Money it’s so easy to forget that these people are slaves or workers paid pennies a day with no breaks to make thousands of shirts. Many Americans think the rest of the world is like America. Sunshine and rainbows.
If you can’t afgird ethically made buy used! Goodwill, consignment shops, eBay etc. you still can get cute clothes without increasing demand on workers. If you still feel icky and guilty and see AMERICAN APPAREL buy it! It never used sweatshops from start to finish all fair trade and went out of business recently.
Collin, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
Is it sad that the main thing I took away from this post……was that I wish I could go clothes shopping by myself and have 10 different items to try one without a care in the world about time… 🙁
Please don’t feel sad. I get down too but I have to remind my self of the little things and remember it is one step at a time. Set small goals whether is is saving a $2 this week to the piggy bank or walking and extra 100 steps. Even replacing one negative thought with a positive even helps. It stinks to be down and I know that but there is not a magic pill nor switch that will help. It starts with your thoughts and then you have to put your thoughts into actions. Reminds me of the “I think I can book” I read to my kids…it’s even more true about your thoughts. Just one small thing at a time. I don’t know you but I have faith in you!
❤️
Read my comment below. Please 😜
I know, I too get so jealous of folks who don’t have young kids and have more time to themselves. BUT, kiddos won’t be young forever, and I really try to consciously remember to cherish the good times…because they’ll be grown before you know it. Maybe someday you’ll be bored with all the free time and dreaming of those days of playing with your little kids.
You’re exactly right! I couldn’t wait for the freedom to shop during the day alone, no kid begging for something whining about wanting to leave. Now my youngest is 13 and when I’m out shopping alone I envy the moms out with their little ones! Unless they’re screaming them I’m happy mine are older! Enjoy your babies, before long you can’t bribe them to go with you! I literally have begged and they have better things to do. Don’t wish their childhood away it’s gone too fast!
If you live near a Walmart and have someone at home with the kids. Go while they sleep. I can never sleep I have a million things to do mind is always racing so I go to Walmart while my husband and kids sleep. About once a month. FOR MYSELF. It’s NOT a grocery trip. It’s a I’m up at 10-11-12 and ya know instead of doing dishes, folding laundry, or binge watching a show. I’m going to pick out a new outfit or some $2 jewelry.
As someone who struggled with infertility for a long time and is just now, FINALLY pregnant, I find it very difficult to feel sorry for you. Maybe take a step back and realize the blessings given to you and be THANKFUL instead of selfishly whining about not being able to shop for clothes for yourself.
I think both situations can be hard. Seasons of life can seem never ending until you look back on them from a later stage of life. For now all we can do is encourage one another and help each other be our best! 🙃
Hear hear!
Congratulations! Please don’t judge an overworked, overtired mom for wishing for a little me time. Once you are a mom and knee deep in diapers, sippy cups, toys alk over etc and can’t even get a few minutes for a shower well then you might have some empathy.
Yes!^^ Thank you for speaking up for us tired moms of toddlers. I literally look forward to showers just to have alone time. Until a pregnant woman is finally chasing a toddler, don’t judge us. You’ll be there soon enough, honey.
I too had many hurdles to go through to become a mom and it was easy to say comments like yours UNTIL I actually became the mom of 3 blessings!! Now I totally understand how it feels to just want a moment to myself! Yes, I’m thankful everyday for my children, but I have my days that I just need some ME time or I may just scream..😂
You will understand soon enough, darling!
Those camis are my favorite and they have them in plus sizes. I have worn and washed them dozens of times and they are still as good as new. I love shirts from Wal Mart because they do not get short when washed and dried.
So awesome! Thanks for the feedback!
Love this idea. I follow some fashion deal pages, but H2S has always been my FAVORITE savings page, so this makes me SUPER excited! If you could include the sizes you purchased for reference that would be even better – something like, this shirt runs big so I normally buy a medium but I bought a small instead. I’ve always found those tips super helpful from some of the fashion pages I follow, especially when I’m buying online. Thanks Collin!! I’m adding stuff to my cart as I type this 🙂
I agree that it would be helpful to know size references. I always look for that in the comments and questions when I buy from Walmart online, which is often (probably more than I should). Anyway, a lot of us are going to get online and look for these items.
To help anyone with sizing, I have these jeggings in 3 colors in size small. I’m 5’5″ and 120 lbs. They fit well most everywhere but are a little tight around my tummy. They create a muffin top on me so I only wear loose fitting shirts with these jeggings. A medium would probably be better around my tummy but probably too loose in my legs and rear. For the spaghetti strap camis in the very first picture on this post, I buy medium. The small fits super tight.
Great feedback! I really appreciate it. I’ll definitely keep that in mind when I write up the Walmart post next week.
I saw that too. Her knees are bent
I find the problem with Walmart clothes is the quality. After just a few washes they tend to look so old (get pilled, faded, shrink). They do have cute affordable options, but they don’t last past one season.
So cute! Great job. I never would have thought you could get cute clothes from Walmart!
I know, I was pretty surprised myself!
Collin you look cute in anything so that is not really a fair question. lol. I love the flats.
Thanks for the kind words, Barbara! 😊
I love this new series. I have been buying Walmart clothes for quite awhile now and for the most part, I think the quality is just fine. If you find that something isn’t good quality, you do have 90 days to return it, so wear it, wash it, keep your receipt and tags, then take it back if you need to. I have these jeggings in black, dark indigo and wine. I really like them.
Super helpful feedback! Thanks for sharing!
Love your outfit!!
Thank you!
I rarely shop Walmart due to their terrible human rights record. The few things I have purchased were of terrible quality. Most likely because they utilize sweat shop labor.
Ditto.
I’m going to comment on this post. I do feel that this page has become alot more commercialized and I’m not loving that. It’s just my opinion, though.
The rude tone of this post is uncalled for however.
I have a pair of those flats in black. They are fine for a few minutes, but I would NEVER recommend them to anyone if walking anywhere. The are horrilbe on your feet and back with no support whatsoever. Asphalt and concrete will go straight to your knees. The necklace is cute! The top looks cute, but too tight around the armpits and short on your arms, so you look uncomfortable.
Thanks for the honest feedback, and sorry to hear about the flats. 🙁

How about this idea at another store? Clearance rack? You are so creative and budget-minded; I’m addicted to hip2save. I check your website at least 2x daily. You have become part of my daily routine.
Great idea! I would love to do more posts like this!
And they are laughing all the way to the bank while you sit here making rude comments because you have nothing better to do.
Definitely !! Why not ?? U look cute as hell and comfy. I honestly believe u can find a nice outfit at just about any store if u have the time and patience. Some more economical than others but its possible. Maybe the outfit a specific person would go with would be dressier or more casual (IE fitness pants) but its fun to experiment with clothes and style. Ive found lots of stuff at Walmart and bought and lots of stuff at Ralph Lauren and Barneys etc… (and could $ometime$ buy). Beauty and fashion vary by choice and your Zest for the day !!
I LOVE your comment! 🙌
Love this. Thanks Collin! You could make any outfit look cute, but that is definitely a cute outfit!
Thanks so much!
Super cute!!!
Thanks!
