I’m Wearing Walmart From Head to Toe… Yes or No? Let Me Know!

I’m so excited to introduce a new series here on the blog and on our Hip2Save Instagram account. Every Wednesday, I’m putting together a complete outfit head to toe – all purchased from Walmart! I did a little shopping last week, and you guys – I was so surprised by what I found. To be honest, I guess I’ve never really looked at the clothes at Walmart before, but I’m so pumped to share these outfits with you.

My goal while shopping at Walmart was to find regular priced clothes, rather than clearance items, so I could share deals that were available to everyone, everywhere. That being said, I do realize that you can find lower priced items when you shop the HOT Walmart clearance deals we post on Hip2Save, but this is a great alternative if you need something now, and don’t want to wait and watch for a deal.

I had so much fun putting these outfits together and the prices were so good! I even included jewelry and shoes too!

So let’s get to it! Here is my first Walmart Wednesday outfit. Drumroll please…. 🥁

Note that we’ve linked to items available online where available, however some of these items are in-store only.

I sincerely hope you’re not trying to make her feel bad for wearing juniors sized clothing. She’s obviously petite. Find something positive to do with your time.

  2. FosterMomsNeverHaveEmptyNestSyndrome

What’s wrong with Juniors clothing? I’m 33 and still shop the Junior section when I can~!things are cheaper, get clearanced more often, and the pants don’t come up to my tatas!!
Negative Nancy’s need not reply! Don’t follow Collin if you can’t handle her ideas.. or better yet, follow them for the ones you know you love that they post.. and scroll past the ones you don’t. It’s OK to keep your opinions to yourself!

  3. Tia

A person should be allowed to state their opinion. I love H2S, have been here for almost 7 years and yes, it’s become more commercialized. I’m sure the potential of this site wasn’t even imagined when she first started. I will still be here every day clicking links. We also should be able to leave an opinion.

    • Molly

Looks like some of the comments were deleted. Sadly some people are insecure and can’t entertain two thought in their mind at the same time 🙃

  4. nosale

Cute! I think Wal-Mart has really had to step it up in order to stay relevant.

  5. Joan

I have had good luck in general with the clothes at Walmart. I guess I never thought about the sweat shops aspect of their low prices that has been brought up here in the comments. So, that just makes me wonder about other clothing stores—such as Old Navy, Kohls, Target etc where the prices are also pretty low. Are all these stores getting clothes from sweat shops? Where do you recommend I buy clothes instead??? Thanks.

      • Kim

Also just buying used clothing. Sweat shops are supply and demand you stop demanding children and women to make 2000+ blouses in 10 hours with no break. And Walmart will order less.

  6. Vicki

Love this series! Their clothes are so cute for basic Ladies sizes. However, I find their selection lacking in “cuteness” and variety, since I now need their Plus-size section.

    • Tia

I was going to say something similar. I think people of her size can get away with lower quality. As a 12/14, Wal-Mart clothing just doesn’t cut it.

      • Jjenelle

Idk Tia. I buy sweaters, tops, pajamas, underwear, socks, practically anything wearable from WM and I’m plus size and I have no problems finding cute and affordable clothing there. I’m in a 14/16 btw.

      • Jana

I have noticed Walmart has a better online plus size selection than they do in store. Even some nice brands they don’t carry in store. I have bought several blouses/nice work shirts on line. I have also returned (in store) several items I bought on line, with no issues.

    • Kim

Agree. When I was a size 2 I had no problem finding cute clothes after I quit dieting. I’m a large and the arms are never big enough they small sleeves are the same size as the large in nice blouses. The body is huge and unflattering like a tent and the sleeves are skin tight it’s 😂. I have friends that find cute sweaters in plus size but they all wear the same thing or different color variations lots of twinses due to lack of selection.

  7. T

I bought those jeggings last month and they are so comfy! Definitely going back to pick up a few more

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yay! Happy to hear that! I am tempted to pick up a few more colors too!

  8. Sara

I actually just went there during my lunch break and saw the $2 cami’s but they were all plus sizes. But my clearance finds were in the boys section where I found 10-pack black crew or long socks and 10-pack white crew or long socks for $4 each (both Starter brand). Hane’s 3 pack crew t-shirts $3. 5-pack Hanes underwear $5. My Son is 12 so I stocked up and will be cleaning out his drawers.

  9. justme1

I love this idea! I have teenagers and we are on a very tight budget so we’re always shopping the Walmart Clearance section. Most everything we wear is from Walmart. One tip I have if you are worried about things falling apart is to wash things on the gentle cycle and then line dry them. I do this with our leggings and our shirts and they are all from Walmart and last.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome tip on washing them. Thank you!

  10. Cruz

    Yessssss….I WANT THIS OUTFIT!
    GO GIRL…GO GIRL!!!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      💃

  11. Meg

We love Walmart clothes. My boys grow so fast that I’m buying a new wardrobe every 3-4 months! Oiy. I think the quality is there for sure and the savings too. Great idea! Bad for me now because everyone will be shopping there too! Lol🙌

    • Amy

I’ve been the same way with my son. He grows so fast, why pay name brand prices when he won’t be able to wear it next year. I just found him a coat on clearance for $11 and I bought a size up, hoping he can wear it this winter and next.

  12. cwescott92

I paid $9 each for 2 hoodies that I wear constantly and they are over a year old. I pay $4 for t shirts or long sleeve shirts that I wear around the house of for working outside. If they get wrecked or stained, I don’t care. I was in Wal-Mart with a friend one day and she said “Look, even poor people can buy nice clothes” when she walked by a stack of the shirts. I opened my jacket and said ” Yes, we can”

  13. Eiise

Feels like I am being marketed to by Walmart, not Hip2Save. Bummer.

    • mayd2bc

Sorry if you feel that way. I think Collin and Hip2Save team are just trying to help people by showing us that with Walmart’s low prices, it’s possible to be stylish and stay in the budget at the same time. Maybe she chose Walmart because lots of us shop there and they have quite a selection. Not to mention, Walmart has the pickup in store option, which could help some busy people. I see her posted some high-end brands too sometime.
Whether you like Walmart or not, admit it at least we’ve been there.

    • Stephanie

In reality, each post someone could comment that they feel they are being marketed to that brand. Hip2Save is here to help EVERYONE so I don’t feel that every post is going to meet my needs. I don’t expect it too. BUT if they didn’t market SEVERAL brands and SEVERAL stores, we would complain that they only market a couple places. Just saying, you can’t say one post feels like you are being marketed to by a company when there are many, many posts a day to many different places.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just as an FYI, Walmart is not currently sponsoring this post. This was an idea the Hip2Save team came up with as we thought it would be a FUN challenge since we think Walmart doesn’t really have the clothing appeal like Target. However, it’d be awesome if Walmart sees this post and is interested in sponsoring future posts, especially since I’ve been so surprised by the selection of clothing they have. 😊

      • VickiB

Thank you for this post Collin and H2S team, sponsorship or not this site helps me save! About two years ago when I really got into cutting back on spending to save aggressively for buying our first house I started by just getting basics at walmart (camis, sweaters, tshirts) now that I am in a financial situation to NEED to reduce cost I get most of my clothes here (work pants to jeans) and love them!

  14. Kathryn

I have bought things from Walmart before. I’m usually not to happy about the purchases. The clothing is not quality. Also, I would be willing to pay a little more for ethically made clothing.

  15. Brittney Gardner

I haven’t purchased a lot of Walmart clothing. But After our plot twist in life ( baby #3) after getting rid of all my maternity clothes, I have ordered pants from them. I paid $12-13 per pair and they have held up much better than I expected! P.S cute outfit!

  16. Amy

I never would have picked this shirt out for myself but now seeing it on Collin, I might want it. I’m impressed with all the color options online. $15 is too high for me, but I will keep checking to see if the price goes down in the next few months, maybe as winter ends. Thank you H2S. I love Walmart.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the comment! 🙂

  17. Helen in Meridian

I think their George brand, their British designer line, is made with really high quality fabric.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh interesting… I’ll have to check out that brand next time I’m there.

  18. J. Sweet.

cute outfit!!! thanks for posting! 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re welcome! Thanks for the comment.

  19. Becky M

My Walmart had plus size Lee Rider jeans on clearance for $15. I had bought some last month for $23+ and the bootcut are super comfy! I saw the Time & Tru tops in Walmart this week and thought they were super cute. The shirt I picked up was made of rayon though and that material has never held up for me (shrinks and tears) so I had to pass.

  20. Kim

    You look good in anything!

  21. anna

Not a fan. Looks like it doesn’t fit very well in the shoulders. Not a huge fan of super tight fitting cheap stuff, if your going to go tight buy Lululemon.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the honest feedback.

  22. Jjenelle

Yes to it all. I think you look absolutely cute in that outfit and even though I’m a bigger girl I would totally wear most of it. Expect the shirt. Not my flavor but I love elephants so I will definitely have to check out WM to get one. Oh and I have an obsession it seems with WM shoes. I will buy a lot of them in the spring time and/or summer. I currently have about 20 pairs alone from there in my closet from last year and I’m not done because I spotted some last week when I was in the store.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

WOW! 20 pairs!! I was pretty impressed with their shoe selection when I was browsing last week.

  23. sne3103

Those jeggings are all I wear, so comfy!

    • aprilbluetx

Same! I tried a pair a while ago. So comfortable.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I agree… I am lovin’ how comfy they are!

  24. Annmarie

I think this idea is great! I have often wanted to join one of those personal shopper sites but they are a bit too expensive for me. This new series will allow me to do that at a fraction of the price. I don’t think I would have picked out this top on my own but seeing it on you…..well ……I ordered it, the pink solid color also and the cami on line.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! I hope you like them. 😃

  25. Meghan

They have the most amazing workout clothes by Danskin as well as skinny jeans by Lee/Riders. Also some wonderful pull on capris by George. Doesn’t sound cute but are. $20 for skinny jeans is worth it to me even if I have to buy a pair every season/every other. Feel great in them!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yay!! Excited to hear that! Thanks for the feedback on the brands you love.

  26. Lilianna

I was at Walmart this morning in Ohio. Racks upon racks of clearanced clothing $1, $3, $5… Awesome deals.

In regards to the sweet shops…it’s terrible that other countries have such a thing…and it’s terrible many companies use them. But please don’t fool yourself into believing it’s just the lower cost stores like Walmart and Target. Lots of companies (most clothing companies) have, at one point, been involved. Gap, Adidas, Nike, puma, h&m, forever 21, urban outfitters, Victoria’s secret (huge deal with using child labor), old Navy, banana republic, Zara, aldo, abercombie and Fitch, LL Bean. Gymboree, Hanes, Burberry, American apparel, children’s place…..I mean that took me a whole 2 mins to find reports on.. and I stopped looking. Let’s be honest with ourselves…you will probably find very few places who haven’t had labor issues…and when you find them…the clothing is going to be outrageously priced. I don’t mean this to excuse any of them…but simply that it’s not limited to the cheaper brands.

I did search for retailers who do not use sweatshops and crossed checked a few with fair trades reports…and honestly…I didn’t recognize any of them.

    • Lilianna

      sweatshops**

    • Jen

I had this concern as well. I’ve been reading about ethical fashion lately and clothing items that are normally priced just a few dollars make me feel guilty almost. I tend to not feel as bad about clearance racks though lol.

  27. Karen

Is Walmart still non-union? I knew someone who wouldn’t shop there for that reason.

  28. mona

    Love the outfit. I
I have never had a problem with Walmart clothing. Love their kids clothes — dresses for young girls. Not too fancy and easy wash and wear. some of the girls clothing elsewhere has too many frills and bows for everyday wear.

  29. Mary

This is a super fun idea. Love it!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yay! Happy to hear that!

  30. Alese

Super cute outfit! I truly love it!! Any chance there is someone on the Hip2Save team that is plus size that could occasionally do Walmart plus size outfits too?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Such a wonderful idea! I am passing along to the team now.

      • Steph

Can I put in a request for a tall team member too?? Haha. It’s so hard to find cute stuff like this for us long legged girls. Those jeggings would be capris on me (which i would still wear). I’d love to see something for all body types using different team members because, let’s be honest, it’s really easy to find size 2 cute clothes!

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the feedback… I am passing along to the team! 🙂

  31. aprilbluetx

I think this is a great idea- thanks H2S!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      👍

  32. Bev

Wal-Mart’s clothes would be fine for someone who wears their clothes one season and then buys new next year because that’s about how long they last. Personally, I like to purchase good quality timeless items that hold up well and I can get a few years wear out of them. JMHO

    • Kristy

My hubby and I still have clothes that we purchased at walmart almost 10 years ago. Most of their stuff has held up pretty good. That’s not saying everything has been perfect. I learned smocked tops don’t last too long with all the elastic. Often the stretch denim pull up pants need to be re-sewn in the crotch area. I have lived in them since my hysterectomy. It seems like almost every pair has weak thread or something. It’s an easy fix since I can sew. It’s annoying but so is jeans with a zipper and buttons on my tummy. Oh, I have a couple pair of danskin yoga pants that I basically lived in for about a year after my surgery (6 years ago) that I still wear.

  33. Nina

Their Danskin and cuddle duds and faded glory line, depending on item, are my go to.. They’re all good quality and affordable.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome! Happy to hear that!

  34. Heather

    Super cute!! Great idea!!

  35. Edy

I went yesterday got the punch bowls for $2 pioneer woman thanks hip2save and got my sister in law camis $1 jackets $7 clothes for her toodler $2 $3 and since he will outgrow nice deals / there marking lots of clothes Camis $1 different colors couldn’t go today —-/ pjs toodlers $3 sets

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

WooHoo!! That’s awesome… such a great score on that $2 punch bowl too!

  36. LSSK

Super cute outfit and totally fits your style. You look good in anything you wear.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the sweet comment.

  37. LS

I have been buying clothes for myself and my children for a long time and have never really had a problem. I still have almost all of my clothes that I’ve bought from Walmart and they have held up for at least the last 4-5 years for me. And yes I wear them often. I’ve bought higher end clothing that truly felt no different from the clothes I’ve bought from Walmart or target. Thx Hip2Save you look cute in that outfit.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s great to hear! Thanks for the feedback!

  38. Lisa

Haha I was just there today looking for Valentines stuff and went through the whole store except women’s clothing. Now I need to make a trip to check out the clothes. Loved Walmart Wednesday, think you need to do Target Tuesday or Thursday too lol.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      👍

  39. Lily

Every once in a while I check the clearance rack for clothes at Walmart and find some trendy shirts for $3-$5. They last a few washes, but for that price I don’t mind.

  40. Jeannette

Thanks for this – that top is cute and just my style! Love sunny, easy, boho Lucky Brand style, but not their prices! lol There were none of these at nearby WalMarts to try on for size (not familiar with this brand’s sizing/fit) so ordered in 2 sizes to check it out. p.s. I 2nd the request someone posted earlier for an occasional extended size feature. 🙂

    • A.Rich

I agree don’t get me wrong I love this site and Collin too but let’s face it she’s cute in anything it would be nice to see attire modeled by one of the other team members.

  41. Kristy

Being in the plus or xxl clothes at walmart, I do find cute clothes at walmart on occasion. I have recently found better luck at Kmart, especially over the past few months. I found some great skinny pants, junior mini dresses, and leggings that are perfect for me. I get compliments on the dresses every time I wear them!

I caught some killer deals and used a lot of points/freecash to buy a good bit for very little. I’m getting at least $5-$7 a week freecash in clothing. That’s free or super cheap shorts, camis/tanks, or capris. I get and $10 of $20 in freecash often too. I am fortunate to still have a store close enough to visit on occasion but do a lot of shopping online too.

Helpful hint – If you have no freecash offers available and still have a local Kmart/Sears, buy something for a buck or two with store pick up (socks, pot holder, washcloth, etc.) and they will start rolling in.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Love the Kmart tips… they have been offering up so many hot points promos lately!

  42. MamaJJ

I boycott Walmart, despite tempting deals, due to their treatment of employees, low pay, lack of providing healthcare. This is unacceptable for the richest family in the US, the Waltons. They also buy political influence and work to privatize public education, which is the cornerstone of our democracy. I encourage you to do your own research and come to your own decisions, but wanted to share what I’ve concluded.

    • anna

Walmart was just in the news for raising their minimum wage and giving every single employee a $1000.00 bonus! Maybe they are turning it around.

      • MamaJJ

I believe the bonus was only for employees over 20 years, not sure how many of those there are. They raised wages, but still not a liveable wage. And they are closing Sam’s Clubs and laying many off, all while getting huge personal and corporate tax breaks.

        • Amy

YES!^^ Walmart didn’t give every employee a $1000 bonus, just the 20+ years employees. Umm. How many are there?? Really. lol It was all a publicity stunt. (And Walmart reps didn’t mention that small little fact…other news sources outted them on it.)
And yes, the same day…they closed Sam’s Club locations and laid people off. Amazon and Target only for me. All the way.

    • Joy

My teenage son is a cashier at Walmart and they treat him pretty good. He makes $10.40 an hour, which is pretty darn good for a part-time job.

    • Holly

$11 an hour for retail is a decent starting wage and they gave bonuses to more than just 20 year employees. My mom works there for 6 years and she is getting $300

  43. Edy

I forgot to mention got 2 Christmas trees 6ft non lit for $5 and went to michaels craft store got a email for 50% off one item and used for a infuser for my mom —- got home got one Michaels in mail box for 50% off would work great with the journal that you mention yesterday

  44. Kristi B

Love, love, love that shirt. Walmart can home some cute stuff. I’ve noticed that more and more lately.

  45. Kim

I buy my tanks and and workout clothes from Walmart. You can’t beat the price! As far as regular clothes, I usually go elsewhere. I have a hard time liking what’s in style.

  46. Stacy

Omg so cute!!!! I love it

  47. Liky

I love this series … never looked at Walmart clothes but now I will

  48. candicegpowell

Walmart Faded Glory jeans and jeggings are the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn! Last week I bought paint splattered jeans for $12, destructed jeggings cost me $12, and the regular denim jeggings were a mere $9.30! And to think I thought I had to pay $100 for Chicos jeans! I’m a Walmart girl now!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      WooHoo! That’s awesome!

  49. Lolie

What a great idea! I love this! I’d love to see some match ups for plus size clothing.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Stay tuned…

  50. Angela

    Adorable!
