Free Fishing Days 2022 (Fish Without a License!)
There is nothing better than free family fun!
Free Fishing Days are perfect for family bonding. Take the kiddos fishing or just try it out for yourself! You can hop on over here to see which days are free in your state where you can fish on public property without a fishing license!
Free fishing days start as early as April and, in some states, even year-round, so make sure to mark the days on your calendar now so you don’t miss out. Some states even offer free fishing days during the winter so you can give ice fishing a try!
Be sure to check your state’s fish and game website, as some states will even have free trailers set up during these special free fishing days with fishing rods and tackle you can use free of charge! In Texas, the state releases hundreds of catfish into select areas to help first-time anglers catch their first fish – how fun!
If you’ll be on the water, it’s super simple to get a fishing license and a boat license! Head here and see what type of license you need and where to get one. Some states even allow you to apply for your license online.
Not familiar with local fishing spots? Head to the TakeMeFishing.org site where they list out popular fishing locations in each state. The map shows local boat ramps, bait shops, bodies of water and even has a spot where you can log what fish you’ve caught as well as see what other people are catching – so cool!
Although the majority of public areas have opened back up, be sure to play it safe and check your state’s local guidelines and updates for the status of state parks, public launches, and more!
