Does anyone know how strict they are on age? My 4 year old who is really good with his fine motor skills will want to be able to do this with his 8 year old big brother. I’ve never done one before for this reason.

Each store is different. Ours doesn’t enforce it at all

I used to take my son at 4 yo, I would just fib on the registration form. they never questioned us.

also want to note that I’ve gone at different times than what I signed up for & never had an issue getting a kit. I’m sure they’re just trying to avoid the massive lines that used to form when it was first come, first serve .

I just wanted to thank everyone that lies/cheats/steals the lego kits because their child is “special” and does not need to follow the age requirement. I know that you will be the first to complain when lego ceases to hold these builds rather than confront parents who are obviously not enrolling children of the appropriate age. CONGRATS on your questionable parenting and obvious lack of integrity.

    • Suzanne

Well, Jason, that’s very gracious of you to be so thankful.

    • Kathryn

You must be a very lovely person. I will be sure to tell the Lego associates, that happily give my son a kit so he can join his older sister, that they have no integrity. Whenever, if ever, Lego decides to stop the mini builds, I will be very grateful for the years they’ve done them even when we were not participating. And it would, of course, be because 5 year olds were saying they were 6 for mini builds rather than the first year of declining sales of Lego in 13 years…

Lego runs these events to get people into the store to buy Legos. As long as the parents are buying Legos they will continue to have the events, even if the kids are younger.

Lol! Seriously, the only reason LEGO puts the age limit out there is so some kids under 4 doesn’t swallow/choke/die and sue them.
