I did just that a few days ago. I ordered all of my kids back to school shopping through walmart.com and did in store pickup. It saves so much time and anxiety not being apart of that big rush and having to ran sack through shelves for supplies.
Such a great idea! My local Walmart is already a zoo since school starts back on 8/1. Time savers for the win!
Same here! Although my order isn’t quite ready yet. I guess it is taking the Walmart employees a little extra time to do all the digging for me 😂
I ordered everything last year and had it shipped to the house. This year we are doing private school and all the supplies are included.
This is a great option, but our Walmart and Target have had supplies out for a couple of weeks now, even though school doesn’t start for another 3 weeks. So people are just buying their supplies now and there’s no rush or frenzy whatsoever. That only happens when you wait til the days right before or after school starts.
I have a general question about this…I went to do in store pickup. The item shows $7.93 online, but it shows my store has it for $5. It’s trying to charge me the $7.93, is that correct? Shouldn’t it be the price my store is charging?
Yeah… Ordering on Walmart.com is inconsistent for me, regardless if I pick up today (in stock) or have it shipped to the store for pickup (it’s coming from the warehouse and not my local store). And I strangely get better pricing by ordering from Walmart.com instead of buying from my local store. That said, I DO get consistent pricing when I use the Walmart Grocery app, because it will only let you order in stock items at the local price. Could you do that instead?
You will get charged the online price because you are still shopping online even though you are picking the items up in store. Sometimes the in store price is cheaper in order to try to get you in the store or the item may be on clearance in store. Each store is different but my store will refund the differance, however you have to make a separate stop at guest services which for me always seems to be backed up and a hassle.
If you order items as Pickup Today and they are cheaper in store, you will be refunded the difference when you pick up your items. You get emails detailing this as well after you complete your pickup. Vice versa if an item is cheaper online then in store, you do not get charged more. Basically as long as it’s a Pickup Today item you get the cheapest price wherever it is. If an item is shipped then it’s the price you paid online. And there is no need to stop at the Service Desk as this is an automatic pricing perk. Hope this helps!
You can also order through the Walmart Grocery app, too, so if you need to make a grocery run, you can kill two birds with one stone. Did that yesterday and everything was in stock.
I’m not sure about online, but I was in Walmart looking to buy my son’s school supplies and my jaw was on the floor from the expensive prices. I ordered the sale items from Office Depot, used a 20% off one item code and was able to pick it up within an hour. Total came up to $15. (Did not purchase a backpack there)
Really? I’m sure it depends on the grade level, but I’m surprised Office Depot would beat Walmart – they’re always more expensive where I live. I bought school supplies for my kindergartener and 1st header yesterday and almost everything on their list was $.50-$1 each. I just looked at my receipt, and my most expensive items were watercolors and copy paper ($2.97 each). I bought headphones off Amazon for $8.
I’d love to, but we don’t get our supply lists til mid-August 🙄
Our Walmart always has the local schools’ supply lists posted in-store by the supplies. Maybe check to see if yours has it as well. HTH
I ordered all my school supplies from google express and used a $10 off coupon from slick deals… I didn’t have to leave my house and we are done! Our school post the list online… all done for $10😉
Great score Michelle! Nothing better than crossing off your list without leaving the house! 🙂
