I had one of these but really didn’t like it. The refills are really expensive so i ended up just tossing it. It also doesn’t do THAT good of a job in keeping smells at bay. I really prefer to just use a grocery sack and to put it out in the trash right away. Cat pee is too smelly to mess around with 😣
Darn! Thanks for the honest review, Jessi! I haven’t used one of these yet for my cat!
Has anyone been able to print this coupon? I had no luck.
Hi there! I was just able to grab it! Be sure you have your “pop up blocker” turned off. That worked best for me! Hope that helps!
So we have 3 cats and use a Litter Genie (for the 3rd floor litter box), a Litter Champ (for the 2nd floor box) and then just the ole plastic bag method for the 2 on the first floor (not sure why we don’t have one on the first floor vs. one of the others but that’s the setup 🤔). I personally like the Litter Champ best because it has a foot pedal to lift the lid vs. the Litter Genie you have to lift it with your hand. The Litter Genie’s setup is a little better to mitigate smells, but it won’t erase them. The best way to avoid odors is to scoop often and then to completely change out the litter as often as possible (at least monthly, but biweekly or weekly is better). The real advantage of a bin like this is so that you don’t have to remember to grab a plastic bag before scooping, but if you just kept a container of plastic bags near your litter box, that would work just as well (and, if you took it right outside, would honestly mitigate smells better). With 3 cats, these become nice to haves since they remind me to scoop more often/take away the excuse not to scoop. But the refills are expensive vs. you probably have a bag of plastic bags in your house already. For multiple cats, I’d say go for it, you’ve already made your bed, but if we just had 1 I don’t know if I’d get this.
I’ve had the Litter Genie for my cat for about 4 years now & I love it. So easy to use & I haven’t had any problems with smell. There are videos on the internet on how to ‘make your own’ refills, cheaper than buying the refills. I haven’t tried the make your own refill – with just one cat the refills last me awhile.
There is a Try Me FREE offer of this Little Genie Plus Pail form from Petco, up to $24.99 but it has to be purchased at that store. Forms are found right there on the shelf where this products are. Purchase must be made by 9/29. Offer is not valid for online purchase.
Thanks for passing that along Renee! We do have that deal posted here as well. 🙂
The refills are are really expensive, and I have try to make my own refills but really hard and do not keep the smell. So that I found some refills on Amazon for cheap. They are not litter genuine brand but are half the cost and ship free with prime. I have been using them now for a few months and they work the same. I will see if I can post a link
