      Trick or treat

In my house, these wouldn’t make it to Halloween for trick or treat. I love Reese’s.

Ordered the Reese’s and Kit Kats! Are Kit Kats good for allergies? If not, anybody have a recommendation for a good blue teal sub for these candy bars?
Also, this will make my grandmas day. Her retirement village does a trick or treat and she will be thrilled to see I’m bringing full size candy bars for her to pass out! Her and my grandfather (now passed) use to pass our full size bars every Halloween. She loved the looks on little kiddos faces! I’m going to hide from my own children and let her be the one to show them.
Thanks for making the memory more affordable!

I have kiddos with peanut and tree/nut allergies, and there are not really truly safe good mainstream alternatives to a nice chocolate bar. There are varying degrees of what allergic people avoid, but someone with a true anaphylactic allergen avoidance wouldn’t likely eat any of the Mars/Hershey’s varieties. There is a brand called Enjoy Life that makes chocolate bars which my boys love, but they are pricey.

I’ve called and talked with people at these manufacturers and the only big mainstream candy brands I’m personally comfy with are Wrigley with their Skittles, Starburst, Life Savers, etc., Dum-Dums, Tootsie Rolls, and Smarties (Explicitly labeled peanut and tree nut free). Some Hershey brands like Twizzlers are ok, but unfortunately no chocolate bars are fully safe. Disclaimer: I’m not giving medical advice, but just my experience from a mom with kiddos who have food allergies. Always check labels yourselves and contact manufacturers with any questions avoiding if you aren’t comfy with their answers. 🙂
