On the fence…
I love being able to drop in on my kids and check on them. We have one in all of the bedrooms, and one in the living room. Though my 2 year old thinks Alexa exists solely to play “baby shark” for him!
I love love love mine! I got the two pack last time Hip2Save posted these on Amazon day. They have been wonderful. Every time my inquisitive boys ask us questions we don’t know, we just ask Alexa. I also use her as an alarm to whatever music I’d like to wake up to. We intercom from one floor to another to ask each other questions. We also connect them all to play the same music throughout the house. Just today I told her to play happy birthday and my husband chuckled as Alexa sang him happy birthday. We love them. Great purchase, great price!
I can set my kids’ alarms from my dot or phone app and also set reminders for school (remember to bring your library book) or sports (you have practice tonight at 6). I use the app to set a Bible verse for them to remember each month. I set it to play every weekday morning while they are getting ready for school.
Anyone know the difference between this & the new one 3rd Gen Echo Dot?
Everyone I know has one of these, but they creep me out a little. It’s literally listening to everything you say. My kids want one so bad.
Your phone already does that, unless you have an old school flip phone.
A friend of mine told me that you can only use one at a time. Does anyone know if this is accurate? It seems like a waste of money to buy four if this is the case.
Hey Christy! You can use more than one at a time. So if you had one playing music you would be able to ask the other one a question, or also have that playing music. You are not able to stream Amazon Music on both unless you pay for the subscription.
Thanks, that answers my question! I would be using it to stream amazon music, and all my kids want to stream at the same time so I guess it won’t work for us. 😁
You can use more than one at a time. One of our favorite features is you can use it like an intercom or make announcements.
I have these in my boys room. It is great for playing music at night for them. If I forget to tell it to stop after X hours, then I listen to it when I wake up.
I bought a white one today for my daughter—she has had a CD player in her room for years to listen to music while she sleeps. It finally broke, so, needed something to do the job!
Heads up, though—the new 3rd generations are popping up as Doorbusters in Black Friday ads for $24.99. Kohl’s will have it, for example.
