Thoughts on this vs the mini iPad? For a 9 year old?
May just be personal preference but I love having the larger screen! 32gb is also decent storage space for apps!
The mini is better for younger age
We have mini’s for our kids (10 yo – 3 yo) and we like the smaller size and portability of the smaller unit. It’s easy to throw in a backpack or purse! Also, we have like all their movies loaded on there and that’s like 50 GB right there.
I was leaning toward a mini too, but read they are being discontinued and have slower processor that current iPad?
They do have a slower processor (A8). The newest iPads are A12. I am concerned about this as well. The mini is the best size and it is 128 GB which is also better memory wise. Hard decision.
I have the mini for my kids and LOVE it. Totally recommend a mini over the bigger screen.

If you want more storage the mini is limited. I know because I have one. My hubby bought the iPad Pro and it has tons of storage for gaming.
