Where can find out which store are participating?
Good question. I went to a stand alone Starbucks the other day to redeem my birthday reward and they said they couldn’t help me because they weren’t a corporate store. What???
Starbucks does not franchise their location. I would call corporate. That seems really odd to me that you would be told that. The only things would be different is that they can franchise Starbucks out like they do for Barnes and Noble. That being said a stand alone store is always a corporate store.

It was so strange. I dont know what a “corporate store” is compared to a regular store. I was under the impression that if it was a stand alone store, you are pretty much safe that they participate in every single Starbucks promotion.

I would call corporate and ask about your store. Something isn’t right there.

I had the same issue. Certain stores dodn’t have the “button” for the birthday drink. 🙄
This usually happens at locations inside Stop & Shop or rest stop areas.
I was told that at one that was inside a Target once.
I never had an issue at my local Starbucks with redeeming reward items via app, including birthday item. Then, the last game they had, I won several items and went in to redeem it and they told me they were not a participating store in the promotional items, including the birthday one. I did contact headquarters via online and was given a generic response saying not all store participate in them. I used to put a lot of effort in to maintain my star level…now I just use a different local coffee shop. Might as well support a local business!
Maybe call in to your location before heading out to be sure! Hope that helps!
Anyone know if I can order on my app and still get to try it for free?
I called my Starbucks and they told me it was just a sample. Kind if disappointed…
Thanks for the feedback, Cor! I’m wondering if it may vary by location. Did they tell you the size of the sample?
It says shot so I think it’s just a small pour if the drink. I don’t think it’s a full size drink at any of the locations.
This exactly, it’s literally a shot glass size cup of the nitro cold brew to try it. They will do this any day, it just advertised this time.
Great to know! – thank you
Yes, the post states “shot”
We’ve updated the top pic to show the shot, Laura.
Oh Jennifer / this wasn’t on you or the post. It was for those confused by the post, thinking they were getting perhaps a tall. And not reading the post.
You are sweet, Laura! Others were confused, so we changed the picture to make it more clear. Thanks! 🙂
Please keep in mind, it’s not a full-size beverage. It’s a sample size cup of a shot of nitro infused cold brew. The picture shown is very misleading.
Thanks so much, Mike! I’ve updated the top picture with a “shot” from Starbucks! 🙂
I tried to redeem my stars for a breakfast sandwich at the Starbucks inside my target. The barista told me since their registers are hooked up to target’s system, they can only redeem stars for drinks. Not sure if all target Starbucks are like that, but it was news to me!
At my Target Starbucks she couldn’t get their system to work for me to redeem stars. I went over to a stand alone and it worked fine. So sick of Starbucks machines not all connected to the same system
Off topic, if you signed up for the Farneth v. Walmart settlement, you should receive your gift card today. I got one in my spam for $125. The settlement was in regards to Walmart not applying taxes correctly on free items or something like that.
Got my sample and didn’t find it all that special. I don’t know what I was expecting. Maybe I just don’t love coffee enough.
Oh Darn! Stetson (HipSidekick) thought it was pretty smooth!
