Toys “R” Us Opens a New Store in NJ, With a Second Location to Open on 12/7
Toys “R” Us is back, and just in time for the holidays! 🎉
Back in July, we reported that Toys “R” Us was planning to open two new stores as part of a small-scale reboot. On Saturday, November 30th, the first of these stores opened at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey. The grand opening celebration included character appearances, giveaways, and other family-friendly events.
“Toys “R” Us is built into the fabric of childhood and for more than 70 years has been the most trusted source for toys and play,” said Richard Barry, CEO at Tru Kids, in a press release. “With the return of Toys “R” Us stores in the U.S., we are bringing a highly engaging, experience-driven retail destination that celebrates play and deepens the connection between the world’s best toy, play, and entertainment brands and customers.”
The new stores are smaller and will offer a different experience compared to the Toys “R” Us stores of the past. The new retail locations are hailed as “exclusive playscapes” where kids can unleash their imaginations and create memorable moments with Geoffrey the Giraffe.
The Paramus, NJ store has a giant plush Geoffrey the Giraffe to welcome guests to a place where they can play, explore, read, climb up into Geoffery’s Treehouse, or visit Geoffrey’s Magical Mirror, a “playpod” where a virtual 3D Geoffrey comes to life and mimics kids’ movements.
The second Toys “R”Us store will open at The Galleria in Houston, Texas on Saturday, December 7th. Have you had a chance to visit the new Toys “R” Us location in New Jersey? Please tell us what you thought of the new store!
Well, I hope they took their “time off” reevaluating the prices that the set for toys. Otherwise they will go down the same path as before.
