Meet Mattel’s New Barbies – Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Jean King & Florence Nightingale
Barbie is on a mission to give girls more female role models! 👏👏👏
Since 2018, Barbie’s Inspiring Women Series has been highlighting courageous women who changed the rules for future generations of girls. This year, three new dolls based on iconic women have been added to this inspirational line from Mattel.
Mattel launched the Inspiring Women Series on International Women’s Day 2018 with the release of Barbie dolls based on aviator Amelia Earhart, NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, and artist Frida Kahlo. Last year, the line expanded with the addition of dolls based on Rosa Parks and Sally Ride.
This year, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Jean King, and Florence Nightingale are the latest icons to join the Inspiring Women Series. Each doll features authentic clothing, unique accessories, and educational information about the woman’s accomplishments. They’re available for purchase at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Barbie.com for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

I wonder if the Barbie deal going on this week applies to these dolls
I wish they would do an African Amercian version of the dolls. I am a nurse and would love the Florence Nightengale one to put on my desk at work
These are historical figures though. Maybe Mattel could make a doll of an actual African American nurse.
The Ella Fitzgerald Barbie Doll!
….but, Florence Nightingale was white. Perhaps Harriet Tubman?
I suppose the special needs dolls that came out earlier this year need a nurse 🧑🏼⚕️
These are historical figures though. Maybe Mattel could make a doll of an actual African American nurse.
They put Rosa Parks in the front of the group 👍👍
Ladies……….there’s an AfricanAmerrican Doctor Barbie.
