Great news for fans of ALDI!

While 2020 has been a difficult year for many retailers, one of our favorite stores for big grocery savings is actually growing!

ALDI has announced a new wave of coast-to-coast expansion, which will bring its total footprint to over 2,000 locations in 38 states by the end of the year. The discount grocery chain plans to open more than 70 new stores in 2020, including a presence in Arizona for the first time ever with four new stores opening in the greater Phoenix area.

The company’s growth will focus on expanding its presence in the Gulf Coast region too, with plans to add more stores there in 2020 and a new Loxley, AL distribution center in 2021. Jason Hart, CEO, ALDI US said,

“Each new store is an opportunity to serve another community, which is an honor and responsibility we do not take lightly. As we continue to expand, we promise to do everything in our power to offer the lowest prices, every day, without exception. In fact, as food costs are rising across the country, we’re lowering prices on hundreds of items to meet our customers’ increased need for savings.”

In recent years, ALDI has invested more than $5 billion to update existing stores and open hundreds of new locations. The company also increased its fresh food selection by 40% with a focus on new produce, meat, and organic options.

ALDI has also been working to expand its e-commerce offerings. By the end of July, it had rolled out its Curbside Grocery Pickup service to nearly 600 of its locations.

ALDI is already one of America’s fastest-growing retailers, and this expansion puts them on track to become the third-largest grocery retailer by store count by the end of 2022.

Love Aldi’s. Our Aldi’s has great customer service, great selection… except for those elusive Soy Candles. However, on a good note…. My Aldi’s said that the Soy Candles are going to be a regular item…. YEAHHHH! I did finally find the Gardenia and the Vanilla ones. I only got the Vanilla ones as the Gardenia smelled like a pine tree and I wasn’t into that.

How cool! Thanks for sharing, Lisa!

I wish they open in Las Vegas. I am from Europe and this store has European vibe (it is set up the same way it is in Europe). It makes me homesick.

Slightly off subject, I went to Aldi on Friday and they were locking carts again (needed quarter) and there was no one wiping them down. Anyone else find this?

    • everest716

Yes my store switched to quarter use too, but cart wipes were right there.

    • Lana

Same here for about six weeks but the wipes are right there for use. No need to have an employee out there doing it anymore as far as we are concerned.

NJ Aldi’s stopped unlocking arts and wiping them down about 2 months ago. One Aldi was going to never had hand sanitizer or wipes. I switched stores (because this Aldi had lower prices) and they always have hand sanitizer and wipes.

For those of you who don’t know, Aldi uses zone pricing in all stores. So stores a few minutes apart will have different prices. The store I switched to almost always has lower saver prices than the advertised price.

They started locking them and discontinued the Wipe Down process at the store I shop most. I don’t mind carrying a small zipper bag of homemade wipes when I do my weekend shopping run. What bothers me most is having to take the Quarter from the cart they transfer my groceries into at checkout. I know where my Quarter has been….not sure about the other one. I don’t like having to waste a wipe just to clean it off. You’d be surprised at how many people offer to “freely” take your cart “off your hands” when you’re returning it. No Thanks…..kindly keep your 6 foot distance and keep it rolling. And no…I don’t want you to walk up to my to hand me your Quarter for the cart exchange. Kindly keep your 6 foot distance and keep it rolling.

Dear Aldi Brothers (Brother 1 and 2)…………. Please please please come to Little Rock. My step father went to school with your parents…. Please come to Little Rock. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive one way to our closes Aldi. I tried Trader Joes (no disrespect Aldi brother 1) but it is nothing like the Aldi I grew up with in Germany.

Wish one would open near me!

  11. Amy

I wish Aldi had better safety protocols. it’s a free for all here and the carts are never wiped. I am not risking my health for a cheap product.

    • Rebecca

Very low risk getting it from any service. But you could always do order pickup through Instacart!

      • Rebecca

        *surface, not service 🤦

Tallahassee,FL is finally getting two of them. I’m soooo excited. Because I’m from central FL and there all over there. When I moved to Tallahassee we didn’t have any 😢😢.
