The features that I was looking for and use the most are exercise tracking, music playing, sleep tracking, alarm, and timer, and every single one of them works flawlessly. I love that the back of the watch doesn’t dig so much into your wrist, as some other smartwatches and fitness trackers do, and it isn’t super heavy.
The wireless charging works perfectly, and I haven’t had an issue with battery life, as you can just charge it while getting work done or watching a show, and it charges relatively quickly. I love the ability to connect Bluetooth headphones to the watch and stream music over wifi without a phone needed nearby as well. Very sleek design, and amazing features!
This watch has a very good blend of features of a smartwatch and a fitness tracker. It exceeds the features of Garmin Vivoactive HR (my previous fitness tracker). The best part is, unlike any Apple watch, this watch works on both iOS and Android.
There are enough watch faces available to download (some are free and some paid). It has music streaming( Spotify, Free Radio, and more) and offline music storage is a huge plus. And, the look of the watch can be renewed in many affordable ways, watch faces, a plethora of bands and covers! It’s the best of all worlds!
That’s the best price I’ve seen for this watch, especially since it comes with a second charger. I love that it’s compatible with both android and iPhone. I’d gotten one for myself and am getting one for my elderly parents for some of its safety features. First, as long as it’s connected to your phone via Bluetooth, the watch can use your phone’s calling and data so you can make calls right from the watch. This is important for my parents in case they fall and can’t get up to reach their phone. Second, you can set 4 emergency contacts in the watch so that when the side button is pressed 3 times, those emergency contacts will get an sos text. You can also choose to have a number automatically be dialed as well. This is good in emergencies where the might not have mental capacity to see screen, but know they can just use the buttons. Also, you can set it to give a 5 second delay so that it can be canceled if accidentally activated. Thirdly, it reminds you ever so often to get up and move. Lastly, when you pair it with your phone, a long as it is connected through Bluetooth and within range, you can use your watch to find your phone, and vice versa. The best part is that it will override even silent/ vibrate mode settings. I use this feature at least 2-3 times a day.
This one doesn’t require cellular data so you don’t have to pay monthly data fee, but then you also can’t use it as a standalone to make calls. If you always have your phone near, that shouldn’t be a problem. That said, I live in a 2000sqft one story home and the Bluetooth signal is strong enough for my devices to stay connected no matter where I am in the house. I have an office job and running after my kids after school is sadly the extent of my physical activity. I say that to give you an idea of battery use. When I have it constantly monitoring my heart rate, the battery is drained in about 24 hours. When I set it to manual heart monitoring, I get about 2.5 days on each charge. Charging is relatively fast, but since battery drains fast, it is nice to have that second charger to keep at the desk.
Thank you so much for your in-depth review. I’ve had this watch about a year and didn’t know about most of these features. I really enjoy this watch and get a lot of compliments on it. I will say that the fitness tracking is not nearly as good as a Fitbit or likely an Apple watch. I love that I can make calls and texts from my wrist. One of my favorite things is the find my phone feature but I got a message on my watch yesterday that that feature is either changing or going away completely. I hope that isn’t true because I use it all the time.
Can you get calls and send a recieve texts?
Yes, if you bluetooth it with your phone, SLA!
Wow! Thank you so much for your detailed explanation of what this can do and how you use it with your parents. That’s super helpful, CM!
Thank you for your detailed review. I wondered if you use a screen protector?
This is what I have and love it. Gets all the updates as version 3.
Is this the same price in store as it is online? I know that some items are less expensive if purchased in store at Costco. Thank you:)
Same price in store here. I love this watch and the bonus charger is a definite plus.
I have the samsung galaxy watch, the most high end version of the Samsung watch. I LOVE my Samsung watch, with that being said if I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t have spent the extra $100 for the spinning face, its not a feature I use much and it adds so much extra bulk to he face. I highly recommend the samsung watch to everyone but definitely think this is the perfect watch for the price vs features.
I have the emergency number activated on my Active 2 since I live alone and have been known to stumble alot due to neurapathy. I was surprised one night to receive a call from my sister (emergency number) inquiring if I was ok. I was fine and wondered why she asked such an odd question only to be told that I called her with an automated text that I had fallen. I had forgotten all about that setting on my watch! I had not actually fallen, just tripped really hard. So that feature definitely works.
We bought 2 of these recently at our local Costco for $169.99 each. Would Costco give a price adjustment refund?
