Hip tips on how to make oatmeal bars:

    • Have a nut allergy? Leave out the peanut butter and use sunflower seed butter or another nut butter alternative.
    • Not into oatmeal chocolate chip bars? That’s okay! The mini chocolate chips are yummy yet optional. You could omit them or substitute in raisins, other dried fruits, or even nuts, if desired. This oatmeal breakfast bars recipe is very easy to change according to your taste.
    • To make these oatmeal squares, I used honey as a sweetener, but you could use maple syrup or sugar instead.

These peanut butter oatmeal bars are so good! We loved this recipe.

These oatmeal squares almost taste like a slice of warm yummy chocolate chip banana bread, but just a little less sweet. Perfect to enjoy with a warm cup of coffee in the morning.

The texture is soft and moist, and I love that only one bowl and baking pan is required to whip these up! Delicious low-effort baked goods are my favorite kind—and this peanut butter oatmeal bars recipe is a winner!

I don’t see the banana in the recipe part. 🙂

  2. Emily

What are the measurements on the peanut butter and banana? I’m not seeing it anywhere. Thanks!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sorry! Just fixed 🙂 Need more coffee today!

      • Emily

        Thanks 😊

    • Maryam

Thank you for the recipe. I made twice already because the first one did not last 10 min (family of 5). It was delicious with the right amount of sweetness. I used amonld flour and it came out great.

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s so nice to hear about almond flour 👏 great job!

  3. mmlovers90

Am I missing something? There is no banana or peanut butter in the recipe?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

whoops sorry all- just fixed 🙂 Thanks!

  4. Sarah

Hi! When do you add the nut butter?

  5. Jenn

Oh gosh those look so good!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks Jenn! I think you’ll enjoy them!

  6. Materof6

Half of my kids are allergic to peanuts and tree nuts…the other half to sunflower seeds…I know! Crazy! Any thoughts on what a sub could be? I know they have a variety of plant butters now from Country Crock.??

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You can try that or maybe just omit and sub with greek yogurt or applesauce.

      • Materof6

        Thank you! 😊

    • Amber

I just made them and omitted the pb and didn’t replace it and they were still good. Maybe a bit more crumbly than they would have been but tasty.

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

        Thanks for sharing!

      • Materof6

        Thank you!😊

      • Erin

Thanks for sharing your experience with no PB! We have a peanut allergy in our house and he won’t eat anything that smells like peanut butter. I might try adding applesauce instead.

    • C

I know there is a peanut butter substitute made out of yellow peas. Maybe that would work for you?

  7. Kimberann1

Can I use something other than coconut oil?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Of course. I would sub another cooking oil you enjoy baking with like vegetable oil, canola oil, etc.

  8. Joy

Would it still be 2 tablespoons if we use another liquid oil replacement?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yes, I would try that.

  9. Christine

    This looks amazing! Thank you!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      sure! Enjoy!

  10. Laudip86

Just made it (no bananas since I didn’t have any) I did add raisins and use peanut butter power instead of peanut butter and it turned out pretty good and filling.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh nice! Thanks for sharing 👍

  11. Katie

Anyone else dairy free and try these without eggs?

    • Courtney

I’m allergic to eggs, so I am trying them right now without eggs. I’m just using 4 bananas (but doubles the recipe) instead. I will let you know how they turn out!

      • Courtney

They turned out great! I would increase the honey and peanut butter just a little bit next time, but otherwise they were a success without eggs just by increasing the banana.

  12. Rosie

Your timing is impeccable! I have 3 over ripe bananas sitting on the counter, and this weekend, I bought clearance Enjoy Life chocolate chips at my market. Can’t wait to make this! Thank you!

  13. Tina miller

Do you have weight watchers points for these?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

No Darn- I’m not sure how to figure that info out. Sorry!

  14. Nika

Any idea if the quick oats would work for this? (Just what I have on hand.)

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hmm yes I think they would 👍

  15. Kasha

Do you think cassava flour would work for this recipe?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh interesting – have never baked with it, so unsure. Let us know if you try it!

      • Kasha

I just made it and it came out delicious! Used 1/4 cup of cassava flour, so it’s gluten free!

        • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yay! That’s so great – thanks for sharing Kasha!

  16. Lexy

Cool I work at retirement center in the kitchen and I’m always looking for new receipts THANKS HIP2SAVE

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Enjoy these!

  17. Shirley

Cinnamon would be a lovely complement! 🙂

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      ah yes- great idea!

  18. animity

This recipe is so easy to adapt too. Easy to make gluten free, egg free, dairy free! Plus so many variations. Add coconut, and mandarin oranges for a tropical feel. Raisins and cinnamon for an oatmeal raisins version. Omit pb when it doesn’t compliment your flavors. Just a fantastic, fun recipe!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yes! Thanks for sharing Animity!

  19. markiesluv

These sound phenomenal. Making to have on hand for neighborhood kid snacks!! Used to make something similar and had forgotten. Thanks for the fabulous recipe.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh nice! You’re very welcome!

  20. Dee

Made them last night. My very athletic and picky teenager took two on her way to school this morning. Big win.

Oh YAY!! I love that – thanks for sharing 🙂

  21. jessicaposnerjohnson

Thanks! It’s a quick and easy recipe that I can bake the day before for an easy, quick breakfast for the family.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yes!! Sure – enjoy 😉

  22. keytay

For those who haven’t tried these, I make them about once a month and they keep well for a few days.

  23. Mandy

How would doubling the recipe work? Thanks for any tips!

  24. Anne

Can I just eliminate the honey (do not have any) or should I substitute it? THIS LOOKS DELICIOUS thanks for posting.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there Anne! Lina used honey as a sweetener, but you could use maple syrup or sugar instead. ❤️ Enjoy!
