We are big fans of the principles that Dave Ramsey teaches. We paid off our mortgage about 6 weeks ago. It feels amazing to be debt free!
Congratulations!
We took financial peace University through a military workshop we where fortunate enough to get it for free. This man has truly changed our lives in the last 2 1/2 years we paid off $24,607 in debt. Built our emergency fund of 3 months And will be closing on our first home this Monday! Oh also I forgot to mention that we will be buying it in cash. It was definitely hard adjusting but now I would never live any other way and I am so grateful for everything that he has taught us, And now we are able to teach our children.
That’s great! Congratulations! you were able to save up for the house in 2 years? I really need to do something with our financial situation
We started with Dave a few years ago and it has been a game changer. I have become a financial coach through him too. I love helping people get on track with their finances and relieve some of their stress.
So if you cancel the membership before 14 days they won’t charge you ? They do ask for the credit card
Debit cards only
Anna, you can use a credit card. They can’t prevent that.
Actually it says right when you do it debit only, we just did it this morning.
I would like to know this as well. I assume you can cancel prior to not be charged, otherwise what would be the point of the free trial..?
Sounds like a scam. You do not need payment info for something that is free.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ HUGE DR fans here! Love this!
I can’t recommend Dave Ramsey’s plan enough! My husband and I were able to retire this year, after following his plan. If you follow his 7 Baby Steps (look them up), you will set yourself up for a successful life.
That’s awesome to hear, Patti! Thanks so much for the recommendation! Congrats on your success!
I started the budgeting he talks about with paying in cash and saving/allocating the rest. It’s helped so much in the last year and helped us stay on track. Definitely a game changer. There’s so many resources online and at the library. It’s a hard adjustment at first but once you tweak things you’ll be on the right track.
SWEET! Thanks a ton for sharing your experience with us, Amber!
This would only work your spouse/partner is on board, otherwise, it’s gonna be difficult. I attended the FPU few years ago, just me. I thought I could persuade my husband 😕. He said his plan works, too. Joke’s on us, we still have CC debts, mortgage, student loan. But there’s one improvement. He used to say we will always be in debt, at least now he’s eager to pay off our debts. Not just me. Maybe he finally realized that if we have debts, we will never get ahead. Sigh….
I do the budgeting and take a set amount from his check each week which will pay rent car and tuition. I take care of all the other bills and groceries and home items. It basically works 50/50 in the end and whatever he does with the rest is his prerogative.
Why do you have separate accounts? Why not deposit both paychecks into one checking account and pay all bills from there? Anything leftover can go in savings or an investment account or just split the remainder.
For us it’s just easier and I think we’re just complacent with it. We both had our accounts since before we got together and even though we’ve been together a long time we’re not married either. We’ve just always liked our money separate. If he wants to buy something I may not agree with, it’s his money lol (and vice versa).
I learned about Dave years ago. I read his book and followed his baby steps. Thanks to him I paid off my student loans and have a good size emergency fund. During this time of uncertainty, I’m so glad that I listened to him and have that cushion in case I lose my job.
I think those of us that are debt free are not quite as stressed during this time worrying about how to pay the bills. I thank Dave for that!
Ditto. This has helped immensely. Along with Hip2Save ☺️

I was very excited to know the 14 days free trial financial peace university. However, I am disappointed when it asks me to put my debit card number. why don’t I take the 14 days free trial? if I was not able to cancel the card after 7 days by any means, I will be charged. After all this 14 days trial is to help out people.
My thoughts exactly. I just made a comment stating that I was able to a trial with another company and they did not ask for payment info until the trial period was up. Companies that ask for payment info during trial periods (which is most of them) are suspect to me.
trying to sign in and take advantage of the free trial, every time i use my debit it says you cant use credit, its not credit its my debit, help
I signed up to up a service a few months ago and I did not need to submit any payment information for the free trial. I wish more companies will start doing business this way.
