FREE Online Theater Classes for Kids from Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway
Have kiddos who enjoy musical theater?
Disney’s Broadway production of The Lion King has released a FREE online theater course for kids that gives them a chance to explore the world of musical theater from home.
The Lion King Experience is an arts education program that was originally developed for the classroom, but now Disney is making this course available to kids at home! All sessions of The Lion King Experience have been unlocked and adapted for students participating remotely.
The Lion King Experience introduces children ages 8-15 to musical theater with the help of the young actors who play Nala and Simba in the North American touring production of The Lion King. The “KIDS” curriculum features 11 sessions for children ages 8 to 11 and the “JR” curriculum is divided into 18 sessions for kids ages 12 to 15.
Each session includes a video for students to watch and an at-home activity for them to complete. Sessions are about 45 minutes long and explore the fundamentals of musical theater, including performing, writing, directing, designing, and more. After completing the course, kids will create one of three theatrical projects and write a reflection on what they’ve learned.
