We have an older terrier that has always had a problem drinking water without choking. She was born with a nasal issue so it was always difficult to breathe and drink. After getting this bowl it has reduced the choking a lot and our other smaller dogs have adjusted and seem to like it better as well. Will be getting another one for outside.

Just a heads up to anyone considering ordering this. I ordered this last time it was posted and the small, is very small bowl wise. Too small for my Shih Tzu.

I ordered last time and the small is suitable for my 22 lb dogs. Not big enough for water, but big enough for food. Very happy with them.

They hold a little over a cup of that helps. I read that in the description or reviews before I ordered and compared with what we were using. I did not order one for water as one cup of water is not a lot. There’s a little silver bowl that fits inside of the colored bowl so the size can be deceiving. The large might be better for water, but would be too tall for our cat.

Thank you, Jackie. I should have clarified that in my post above. I had purchased this as a water bowl, for my dog who coughs after drinking because he drinks too fast. Definitely too small for water, but would probably work fine for food. It does not work for food for my dog, because just like he drinks water fast, he eats fast too-so he has a slow feeder food dish! But yes, could work for food for a small dog. Hopefully my above comment was misleading.
