I’m sorry – but I have to comment on this. This “You Can Be Anything” set of Barbies is offensive. Where is the scientist or business professional? Where is the doctor or teacher? IS THIS A JOKE?????
So the Barbie “You Can Be Anything” applies not just to these six folks. It applies to all of their career Barbies. This particular set just happens to feature women in sports.
And that makes it even MORE ridiculous – as NONE of these are outside of the box. Where the hockey player or wrestler or boxer???? For goodness sakes – this sends the exactly opposite message of what the box says. That it’s still the 1950s and women are still expected to only do CERTAIN “appropriate” things.
They have a “You Can Be Anything” boxer. They have more than one hockey playing Barbie. Also Mattel and WWE teamed up and made a line of dolls based on real wrestlers.
In the 1950’s, woman weren’t supposed to play sports, let alone get college scholarships and get paid to play as professionals! 🤦♀️
This looks like the Barbie Sports Careers pack. There are other sets.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us on this set, Katie. 💞 It looks like this particular set may be geared toward kiddos who have an interest in sports-related careers. I did find other Barbie career sets on Walmart’s site here, if you wanted to check those out. We’ll keep an eye out for any sales that might pop up with them. 🥰
