We love a great Walmart find!

Check out these Avia shorts Walmart has in stock! They look identical to the popular Free People The Way Home shorts but are half the cost! 🤩

Here are the two pairs of shorts I recently scooped up:

I love a great look for less, so I was excited to try these two shorts! They’re perfect for summer and I really loved the thick high waistband!

Most notably, the price of the Avia shorts Walmart has cost over 50% LESS than the popular Free People pair! That’s all the reason I needed to give them a try! 🤩

At first glance these shorts are identical! 😍

Both shorts feature the same detailing on the sides, both fabrics are lightweight, the thick waistbands are nearly the same size (the Free People pair is just a hair bigger), and they both feature built-in briefs. 🙌🏼

However, I noticed some differences in the Walmart pair that could be a game changer.

Did someone say pockets?! 😍

It’s hard to beat the convenience of pockets so if you’re someone who loves being able to slip their essentials on their hip, the Walmart pair is definitely the pair for you!

However, I don’t love that these Avia shorts only come in 4 colors compared to the 30+ colors at Free People. Plus, 2 of the four colors Walmart offers are color blocked which takes away from how identical they look to Free People.

That said, there were a few pros and cons to the Free People shorts as well…

First things first, my Lemon Verbena pair is completely see-through. 😬 Some people may like this style, but it came as a surprise for me. Nonetheless, I’d probably wear them around the pool or when paddleboarding so I can look past the see-through feature…literally. Of course, that’s not to say other colors may be less transparent! I would veer towards a darker color if this is a concern for you.

One redeeming feature of the Free People pair is the waistband!

I thought it felt more durable and overall the shorts feel more structured when you slip them on. You really get that perfect compressed fit in the waist without being too tight whereas the Avia shorts feel a little looser.

Sadly, there are no side pockets on the Free People pair either. 😐 However, there is a convenient pocket on the back of the waistband.

What I love about the pocket on the Free People shorts is that the top overlaps with the bottom so you can stash important small items without worrying they’ll fall out. It’s plenty big for a key, credit card, AirPods, or whatever else you need to store while going for a run.

Overall, I love both of these shorts for different reasons! I’d say if you must have pockets on shorts then the Avia shorts Walmart carries are perfect and the price is just right at just $13.98!

On the flip side, I love rocking neutrals more regularly so I love that there are so many different options over at Free People. Plus, for a name brand, I really don’t think $30 is all that bad! At least when you compare it to Lululemon, that is. 😉
