Why skip traditional baby products?
Popular baby name brands often contain chemicals linked to various health issues like developmental delays, immune system disruption, and cancer risks.
Here are just some of the chemicals commonly found in many baby products:
- 🛑 1,4-Dioxane – A known chemical used in cheap manufacturing processes that are known to cause cancer, kidney toxicants, neurotoxins, and respiratory toxins.
- 🛑 Chlorine – Used in the production of diapers. Continuous exposure can lead to developmental delays, negative impacts on the liver, immune systems, and hormones, and is linked to cancer.
- 🛑 Formaldehyde – A chemical found in many creams and lotions and can cause various irritations. Ingredient labels aren’t required to tell you if formaldehyde is present so avoiding products with formaldehyde-releasing chemicals is crucial.
- 🛑 Methylisothiazolinone – A preservative in some baby wipes that can cause skin irritations, painful rashes, organ toxicity, and neurotoxicity.
- 🛑 Polyethylene Glycol – Found in many baby products and can cause skin irritation, eye, and lung irritation with frequent or prolonged contact and organ system toxicity.
- 🛑 Sodium Laureth Sulfate – Found in many bath products and strips the skin of oils which can cause allergies and skin irritations.
- 🛑 Synthetic Fragrances, “Parfum”, or “Fragrance” – May cause headaches, breathing difficulties, cardiovascular and neurological problems, mucosal irritation, and contact dermatitis. Higher risk of cancer.
- 🛑 Talc (AKA Talcum Powder) – Used in some baby powders and cosmetics and is known to cause cancers.

Kudos wipes are the perfect companion to their #1-rated diapers. With a raised quilted pattern and performance grip, they remain gentle on baby’s delicate skin. They’re crafted from sustainably harvested trees, offering an eco-conscious option that is fully biodegradable and compostable.
Like their diapers, Kudos ensures transparency regarding wipe ingredients. We made our own wipes with paper towels, boiled water and a few drops of baby bath. Saved hundreds of dollars with each child, and we knew exactly what was in the wipes. Also, the paper towels were much better at cleaning their bottoms. Most of the commercial wipes slide over the bottom and you end up using and wasting so many of them.
Thanks for sharing, Dee! That is certainly a very cost-effective alternative. What I loved about Kudos wipes is that they are made with a raised quilted pattern and performance grip so they shouldn’t slide like you’re referring to with other wipes. ๐ I wish they were around when I had babies!
Eczema treatment?
Hey there! Without knowing what is causing the eczema, it would be hard to recommend just one magic fix for ya so your best route would be to get it diagnosed by a professional. I do have friends who have experienced eczema with their babies and they seemed to have great success managing it when they illuminated fragrances and harsh soaps. All of the products in this post would be great swaps to start with! I hope this helps and you’re able to find a solution.
Just saw the calendula flower extract in the Earth Mama Baby Oil. People who are allergic to plants in the daisy or aster family, including chrysanthemums and ragweed, may also have an allergic reaction to calendula (usually a skin rash).
Thanks for sharing this helpful information, Dee. Good to know to keep an eye on the ingredients to ensure there are no allergy interactions. ๐
Has anyone tried both Coterie and kudos? If so, how do they compare?
