Sesame Cucumber Salad (Easy & Delicious Side Dish)
If you’re looking for a fresh and cool summer side dish, try this simple to make Asian-inspired Sesame Cucumber Salad. It makes an excellent side dish for your next gathering and/or a great snack to keep in the fridge!
Sesame Cucumber Salad
Ingredients:
(Adapted from Chow.com)
2 English cucumbers, peeled & thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced (optional but yummy!)
2 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Directions: Slice cucumbers and onion very thin (I used a mandolin slicer). Place cucumbers in a colander or salad spinner and drain liquid. You can also use a kitchen towel to squeeze out liquid. Salt cucumbers. Mix together vinegar, sesame oil, and sugar. Toss with onion and cucumbers and top with sesame seeds. This dish tastes even better when marinated in the refrigerator for a few hours. Makes 4 servings.

Thanks for posting this recipe. My husband loves cucumber salads and this one is very different from the usual ones he makes. I can’t wait to try it!
Awesomeness! I was just trying to figure out what to do with this one lonely cucumber in my fridge 😀
Thanks Lina! Can’t wait to make this! I always order sunomono salad at Japanese restaurants and look forward to enjoying it at home.
Sure Emilie! I love ordering this salad too, and it’s easy to make a similar one at home. 🙂
I add salt into the bowl with sliced cucumber, mix and let it sit a while.
Then squeeze liquid out.
Add rice vinegar and sugar.
That’s how I make it.
Great thanks!
Love this fresh side for summer. It’s so hot I just don’t want to cook anything right now, thanks Lina!
Yum! Can’t wait to try this! What a nice easy salad to through into my quick summer dinners. Thank you!
We have cucumbers growing in the garden. Will definitely try this. Looks delicious! Thank you1
My grandmother made the best canned cucumbers. I don’t know how she made them but they were wonderful. A wonderful childhood memory.
