TEACHERS: Looking for Discounts? We’ve Got You Covered!
With teachers spending an average of nearly $500 out of pocket for their own classroom materials each year, we want to help you get the most bang for your buck! Here’s a roundup of the top nationwide stores that offer discounts. ALSO, many of these discounts are available to homeschooling parents as well.
1.) The Apple Store
Many Apple products are available at a discounted price for academic institutions through The Apple Store. Individual education pricing is available to college students, students accepted to college, parents buying for college students, faculty, staff, and homeschool teachers. 2.) Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble offers 20% off the publisher’s list price on all purchases for classroom use, as well as special Educator Events, and up to 25% off during Educator Appreciation Days.
3.) Lakeshore Learning Store
Lakeshore Learning Store has new monthly offers for their Teacher’s Club Members, plus 15% off on hundreds of items in-store, including discounts on self-serve lamination. Sign up in your local store, or by texting “TEACHER” to 39714 to get coupons and event information delivered via text.
4.) Jo-Ann
Save 15% on every purchase, every single day by signing up for Jo-Ann’s Teacher Rewards Program. Discount valid in-store and online. Sign up HERE and a 20% Off Total Purchase Bonus coupon will be e-mailed to you. Don’t forget to go to joann.com and print your coupons. My Jo-Ann store also lets me use the coupons I receive in the mail, on my Jo-Ann app, as well as competitor’s coupons.
5.) Michaels
The Michaels Teacher Discount offers 15% off on all purchases everyday, and is available in-store only.
6.) Office Depot/Office Max
While Office Depot/Office Max doesn’t offer a general discount to teachers, they do have special events offering great discounts (typically around back-to-school time, so it can be paired with those sales to save big!) They also recently began offering 5% back to schools on qualifying school supply purchases through their Give Back to Schools program.
7.) Scholastic
Scholastic’s The Teacher Store offers big discounts exclusively for educators on a wide range of books and other instructional tools. Find even bigger savings in the clearance section as well as their seasonal specials.
8.) First Book
First Book is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving children in need access to reading materials. If your school is a Title 1 or Title 1 eligible, you might be eligible to receive books at low or no cost for your classroom or library. Click HERE to see if you’re eligible.
9.) Pets in the Classroom
Did you know that you can get a grant to sponsor a class pet?? Pets in the Classroom is an educational grant program that provides funding to teachers to purchase and maintain small pets for your classroom. This can be especially beneficial to kiddos who struggle with sensory or other issues. One of my kiddos looks forward to going to school BECAUSE of the class pet!
10.) Hot Wheels Speedometry
Each year Hot Wheels gives away a limited number of FREE Hot Wheels Speedometry Classroom Kits that encourage STEM learning, as well as problem-solving and team-building exercises through hands-on activities.
11.) GM Educator Discount Program
Looking for a new car? You might have already known that GM offers a special discount just for educators, but did you know that you can use it in addition to most of their other offers and incentives?? Talk about SAVINGS!
12.) Ann Taylor LOFT
Ann Taylor LOFT offers 15% off full-price purchases, as well as special sweepstakes, grants, and teacher appreciation nights.
13.) J. Crew
J. Crew offers a 15% discount to all teachers and college students in-store only, with a valid school ID.
14.) west elm
west elm offers 15% off to all teachers, students, and faculty, year round, with a valid college or university ID.
15.) Most Major Cell Phone Carriers and Internet Providers
Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T all offer discounts for teachers. You may need to check with your school to see if you’re eligible.
16.) Many insurance companies
Liberty Mutual, esurance, Farmers, and Horace Mann all offer special pricing for educators. Call your insurance agent today to find out if you’re eligible for any discounts!
17.) TONS of other places! Just ASK!
Local museums, hotels, restaurants, and many other businesses offer unadvertised discounts and teacher appreciation events! It never, ever hurts to ask!

Thank you Collin! I spent 1000 out of pocket last year. This year we were given a stipend to spend on school supplies so that should help. I work in a low socioeconomic area so asking the parents is really hard to do. I appreciate you looking out for us lil ol teachers lol.

New York and Company and Banana Republic Factory both offer teacher discounts. I believe The Limited does as well.

Christopher and Banks and CJ Banks offer 10% for teachers. In the past, I’ve been able to use it along with my coupons.
Here in Orlando, teachers can get a free annual pass to Sea World, Legoland, and Kennedy Space Center!
Do they have to live in Florida?
You have to be a Florida teacher for Seaworld I know….not sure about the other two.
You can also get a free ticket to the crayola experience and 50% off tickets on Tuesdays for family

For those in Atlanta, Zoo Atlanta offers free admission on Sept 17th for educator appreciation day. You just have to show your school id.
