Dang it, I bought this last Saturday 🙁
Did you purchase the same one from a Target store? You can always take your Target receipt into any Target store guest service desk (within 2 weeks of original purchase) and receive the discounted sale price/ad discount… it’s called current ad match…. Unless their rules have changed since I stopped working there about 3 months ago.
Okay, thank you for letting me know. I purchased it at target. I will take the receiptinto target this week. Thank you for your help 🙂
Oh, no problem.
Love my IP, however, I recommend the 8qt!
Would this be good for family of 4? Is this a good price?
I would go for the 8qt. I have read that most families of 4 wish they purchased the larger one so they could have leftovers.
I have a family of 6, and my 6 quart is plenty big.
Depends on what you are making.
I have a family of 4 and the 6 qt is plenty big. I cook in bulk all the time and it’s never been too small. You don’t need the 8 qt. for a family of 4.
Another reason why the 6 qt is the better option imo is b/c accessories for the 6 qt are much easier to find than for the 8 qt. The 6 qt can easily fit a whole chicken inside, just for reference.
I am confused if I have to buy the target one or Amazon one can anyone tell me the difference please
The amazon one is the newest model.
Can someone tell me why the Amazon instant pot would be the better value? What features do you truly need since all I use is a slow cooker.
If all you need is a slow cooker, wait for a deal to be posted on slow cookers. I see them come up for under $20 on hip2save.
Google “which Instant Pot is for me?” to help pick out the right one.
Instant pot is hands down 100% better than a slow cooker. Sorry crockpot fans but they do not compare. You can prepare frozen meats in minutes and everything comes out super tender. I bought my IP just to make yogurt, but quickly grew to making fast soups and meals in minutes. I do recommend buying different seals. One for meals, one for yogurt, one for desserts. Yes you can make beautiful desserts like cheesecake in your IP.
The reason for the extra seal is because your meals will make your seal smell like your meals and when making desserts or yogurts, it prevents transfer of smell.
Yes, but she says she’s only interested in using it as a slow cooker. No point in paying $80 for a slow cooker. Thanks for the heads up about seals. Gross! I’ve been on the fence about this, since I have multiple slow cookers, a pressure cooker, sous vide, air fryer, etc. already, but I think I’ll probably let this fad pass me by. I didn’t know you’d need a multitude peripherals.
This is a pressure cooker which has a slow cooker function. However the slow cooker function on this isn’t all that great, so if all you need is a slow cooker then just use a Crock Pot. Pressure cooking and slow cooking are two different methods that give you very different results, you have to decide which is best for you based on the time that you wish to spend cooking and what kinds of foods you like to prepare. Also you don’t need a second seal- the smell and taste of previously-cooked foods does not transfer to other foods, unless you don’t wash your sealing ring and there are residual oils or food particles left behind. I cook Indian food in my IP every single time that I use it, and I have never had this issue. Just wash the ring/lid parts and you’ll be fine.
The IP has a slow cooker function, but I’m finding it does not slow cook as well as a slow cooker does.
Thank you . Have been eyeing on this. Just ordered.
You’re welcome Sally! Happy you could score the deal!
Wal-Mart has this for $79. You can price match at Target.
The one at Walmart is the Lux, this is the Duo.
Hi off topic… Do you gals happen to know if I can use the 10 off 40 Children’s Place Coupon on items that are marked up to 60% off clearance? TIA
I decided to get the 8 qt and i cook for me and my husband and we eat leftovers the next day. Love the size. Glad I didn’t get the 6 qt.
Family of 7 and I find the 8 qt too small for any leftovers. Seriously considering a second 8 qt.
I do love that I can fit a giant frozen ham in the 8 qt and have it done In 45 min!
