Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal Recalled for Possible Salmonella Contamination
Have a box of Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have so far reported a total of 100 cases of salmonella from 33 states, as of this (Friday) morning.
The CDC says exposure to salmonella can result in serious illness and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, those with frail health, and people with weakened immune systems.
If you have a box of this cereal, the CDC recommends:
- Do not eat recalled Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal in any size packaging.
- Check your home for the recalled cereal and throw it away, or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
- Even if some of the cereal was eaten and no one got sick, throw the rest of it away or return it for a refund.
- If you store your puffed wheat cereal in another container without the packaging and don’t remember the brand or type, throw it away and thoroughly wash the container with warm, soapy water before using it again.
If you have one of these boxes, throw away the recalled cereal and contact Kellogg’s or the store you purchased the cereal from for a full refund.
Wal-Mart is also recalling their precut fruit for salmonella. my infant son just spent a week and half (still counting) at the children’s hospital for salmonella … 😓
Oh no! That’s terrible. I can’t imagine how stressful this is for you and your family. Hoping your son recovers soon.
Oh my… so sorry to hear that Ally. I sure hope he gets better soon!
Oh no! This is a favorite at our house! Thanks for the heads up
You’re so welcome!
How do I get a refund? Just call them and ask for refund? I don’t have my receipt anymore
The details on their website say to just contact them for your refund. It doesn’t state needing a receipt. Hope that helps!
The CDC has expanded its advice. They are now saying: Do not eat Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal of any size package or with any “best if used by” date. 😳
