One Reader’s Best Freebie Ever…
Sent from reader, Amy:
I wanted to share the best freebie I’ve ever received. Our town has a “free Facebook page”, and a lady was giving away this HP LaserJet printer. I figured I’d give it a shot, with the expectations that it was probably broken.
When I brought it home, I was pleased to find it worked and she included brand new color and 2 black cartridges!! It’s been almost 4 years since I’ve had this printer and the cartridges are still going. I use to spend $40+ a month on ink, this freebie has saved me over $2,000 in ink!! That lady will never how much money this freebie has saved for our family.

Sweet deal!
Fantastic! Plus, you both recycled.
I think it is the 2nd R, re-use. hasn’t hit the parts bin yet
How kind!
Maybe you could do a post letting her know how much it has meant to you on facebook? It’s possible she could see it & I bet it would maker her day.
Great idea!
Ahhhhhh I made a Hip2Save post!!!!!! This made my day team!!! Thank you for all you guys do.
Look on Facebook to see if you have a Buy Nothing group in your area. I have received great things from there and also given away lots of things I no longer need but someone else can use.
Great Idea. Think I’ll suggest that for our area.
Awesome! Not surprised though the printer still works so well. I had a HP LaserJet for well over 10 years. Loved that thing! But it finally bit the dust and I had to get a new one.
I’ve gotten many things free from Our town yard sale group. (Wagon, matchbox cars, table) . Whenever I am lucky enough to get something free, I post something free in return.
Wow that’s fabulous. My best free story is my daughter needed a nightstand. I posted on freecycle.com that I was looking for one and within the day I had one. I painted it to match her room and she loved it. I bought the paint at Habitat for humanities store for $3. So it was a very inexpensive way to get a piece of furniture .
What a great score and a great thrifty project!! I love it! The Habitat for Humanities stores are awesome! We are fixing up an old camp trailer. Since the space is so small, we only need a small amount/size of each item (tile, laminate countertops, backsplash, etc.). Re-Store is the perfect place to find supplies left over from a project or new build, that are just the right amount….. and for super cheap!
Wow!!! What a great deal!!! I am always so iffy about free stuff bc I always assume their broken. Going to have to be more open minded. Thanks for sharing!!
What model is the printer?? I need to buy a new one and it sounds like yours is not an ink hog like my last one.
It is a HP Color LaserJet CP1215
