It is a good idea, but the brunette doll is marketed as “Eimmie’s friend,” not Eimmie herself. Additionally, there are only white dolls available. The message is both that blond is best and that non-white doesn’t matter. Not having multiple ethnic options, and having them all be Eimmie, is tone deaf in this day and age.
I like the concept. Though my daughter’s hair is in between blond and brunet. I know American Girl has her hair color not this company. Need more hair colors and skin tones!
I just purchased a gently used American girl doll for my daughter on the Mercari app. I was a little apprehensive bc I’d never heard of Mercari before but the doll came and is beautiful! I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a deal on American girl.
I was approved for a discounted version of the doll (not the subscription) for review back in the beginning of November, but received an expired coupon and then was never able to get any response from their customer service. I still think this is a great idea, but I’d be worried about having an issue with a subscription and not receiving a response from them.
