Has anyone been before?
I have been! My husband’s work used to send us to The Cove (the more expensive section of Atlantis) and it is AWESOME! I always wished we could bring our kids. The lazy river is fantastic and very long. I don’t really know how the normal rooms compare to The Cove, but the beds were super comfy and the service was great.
OMG we have been there and its awesome!! I hope u can go you’ll love it. The beach is very clean and the water features are fun. The resort is huge. We walked all over every day. The staff is very friendly and the room was very clean. I would give it 5 stars out of 5!! You’ll love it.
Do you mind giving more details please?! We haven’t been on a vacation since so long and with two kids it’s overwhelming thinking of expenses and food choices. Any input will greatly help as my husband and I are actually talking about this post finally!! 🤯
I don’t think you’d regret going to Atlantis. The water feature would be a lot of fun for your kids. The beach is huge and the water is crystal clear. There are a least 3 pools on the property. They have a cool lower level cavern to view sea life. Very cool. Check out the website and the have an app that shows u around the resort. Also check to see if they offer any special food or drink packages. I hope this helps. It’s just gorgeous 😎
Bahamas is very expensive as far as groceries go though. My sister said it was like $10 for a bag of potato chips when she was there. I’m sure there are tons of money saving tips on the internet though!
Any of the restaurants on campus or very close by are very expensive. When my husband’s work sent us (just my husband and I), it cost about $50 for the two of us just for breakfast. Many dinners cost around $40 per person. We really had a great time though. My favorite thing to do is the lazy river (some parts are not that lazy!) and looking at the marine animals/aquarium. We always wanted to bring our kids, but the rooms are so expensive. This sounds like a good deal, I’ll have to look at the fine print.
If you read the fine print $60.00 per night for the resort fee
We were there a few years ago with our kids, and we had so much fun! The rooms were ok (we were in the regular room). The lazy river was the best! The giant aquarium was awesome! And yes, food was very expensive. I’ve never had so much pizza in a week, coz that was one of the cheapest. I remember a soda and a hotdog sandwich (think costco for $1.50) was like $$8.50 😬😯😬. We went there with my college friends and their families, and they came in late and no more available regular room and they were upgraded to the tower room, which is soooo much bigger and nicer!
Always check Costco deals, I found a great deal when we went. They had a Costco cash card, free transport to and from airport ($50 value each way). Free excursion with upgraded lunch with 2 drinks each on Balmoral Bay. We purchased airfare separately as we watched daily until we snagged the best price. We are a family of 5 traveling at the time with a <12, 5, & 4 year old.
Regardless of how you book they started giving free water tickets a couple years ago for each day of your stay. We bought one of those single burner hot plates, a few canned soups, mini raviolis, ramen, Mac and cheese cups and a small pot. I also packed some other snacks in checked luggage. This came in handy when the kids could not wait or didn’t want the food options. I made sure to bring water bottles for everyone which doubled as our cocktail bottles for pool side.
As soon as we got there we took a taxi to the main land and went to a convenience store to pick up juice, snack items we didn’t pack like chips, more bottled water, and liquor (not crazy amounts, just some to have a few cocktails here and there mixed with pineapple juices etc). Yes it was expensive but lot $10 a bag. It was till way cheaper than resort prices. Speaking of food, make the short walk to the Marina area. There are a ton of more casual places and they are way cheaper than on property. The food was good and it was still close to the hotel (walking distance with kids ages 4,5,12). There are different food options there too it isn’t just all burgers. They had decent shopping options too (compared to resort pricing). If you want to venture a little further into town you can taxi to local restaurants. You will pay for taxi but still way, way cheaper and you get more of the local vibe. I would definitely google on a travel sites for options because I cannot remember the names now.
As far as entertainment, the water park and aquariums are so awesome. There is a lot to see walking the property. They also have a free movie theatre and other amnetities so check out what is going on the days you are there. The beaches are beautiful. We chose to take the water taxi downtown (they give a whole history on that water taxi about the island).
We went to the straw market to buy souvenirs from the locals. Prices ARE negotiable!
As I said we went to Balmoral Bay, it was gorgeous! The Costco package had included it or we probably would not have gone as it would have been pricey. It included boat ride to the private island. Everyone used their $55 voucher per person towards petting/kissing a dolphin. The actual cost was $110. And again it included lunch with 2 drinks per person!
We have gone twice. Once with work and atayedbat the Cove which was amazing! The second time as a family. The room was still nice and we got upgraded as soon as we got their which bumped our $200 Costco credit to $300. Make sure you understand that the credit is a room credit so ask the front desk if you don’t understand how that works. Bottom line is you can have a blast doing only the resort, water park, and beaches.
Sorry for all the typos, it’s late and I’m tired but I think you got the gist!
No way! Thank you for taking the time to share such helpful info. You’re awesome!!
Thanks for the details Adrienne! We have a 7, 4 and 14 month old. Do you think this is good age to go or should we wait until the 14 month old is a little older?
FYI, you can get a room at the Comfort Suites that is located close by (within walking distance) and you have FULL USE of Atlantis!!! Compare the two prices before deciding where to spend your money. We were going to do it for the day (we were there for 1 day on a cruise) and had it all booked through CS and it saved us a bunch of $. We ended up canceling and doing a different excursion.
Same with us!
Skip this place. Let me give you a hint. After resort fees and a million other fees ONE bagel will cost you $10
