You guys should have done a post way sooner on checks! Whenever I have to order them I realize that there’s no place I know of to order except my own bank. And they charge SO much so darn I wish I had this info sooner!

Banks generally discourage staff from telling customers other places they can go to order checks. While the banks prefer you to order through them, the checks from all of these places work just the same and all of the same security features are available.
When my manager isn’t listening though, I generally give out info about both Checks Unlimited and Bradford Exchange as I have used both in the past. Most people are appreciative.

Many times, the promos for companies like CU, Bradford, etc are for new customers only when I need them. (They alternate sales like everyone else). This is when I use Walmart. The quality is the same for less $. I’ve used them a few times now and no complaints.

I just got mine for two boxes for less than $10 in Unlimited checks.com. My banks ask me if I want to order one… I said no… because I know how to get one cheaper!!!😂😂😂 I had known it since last few years I just forget where was it lol… and now it’s an email search away in my email account lol 😂

Ack! This isn’t quite accurate for Costco– y’all are quoting the “expensive” Costco checks, not their “basic” ones. I’ve ordered from them for years. I think y’all were looking at the licensed “character checks,” maybe? To find the basic ones, keep scrolling through designs until you see the ones that are 13.18 for 2 boxes for Executive, 16.48 for Gold Star — there are lots of options! Look for Green Safety, Blue Safety, Baroque, Joy & Peace, Timeless Stripes, Classic Grey, Camo, Old World, Flutters, Beacon, Art on Canvas, Majestic America, Puppy Love, Venetian, Panache, Monarch, Scroll, Purrfect, Serene, Spectrum, or Costco-theme — all those are in the cheaper category, and some of them have cute images (like puppies and butterflies).

You can still use old checks after a move as long as the account and routing numbers are still the same. I moved five units down in the same building, and I’m still using the checks I purchased in December 2014 through my bank from Harland Clarke. There were 125 duplicate checks in the folder.
I use to write two checks per month, but now that I pay my health insurance premium by credit card I only write a check for rent. I won’t pay it online by bank draft(free) or credit/debit card(not free). I don’t connect anything to my bank accounts. I also will not pay $28/$28.50 for the privilege of paying money.
Sara, just a suggestion too…don’t put address & phone number on checks. My spouse and I only put first initial and last name.

There are only two check-printing companies left in the U.S. (Deluxe and Harland Clarke). All of the options above are actually printed by one or the other, so rest assured that these checks are identical to checks ordered through your bank. The difference is that by sidestepping the greedy banks, the banks don’t get the upcharge revenue. The bank typically pays the check printer 2-3 bucks for an order of checks, then they charge “you” anywhere from $15 to $25. The difference goes in their pocket. I worked in this industry for 30 years. I no longer use checks at all.
We ordered our last back through Sam’s Club as we had already used the Checks Unlimited discount once. Great value and were shipped to our house within a week. I ordered two boxes, not knowing that each box actually was 6 pads / 240 checks. Guess I’m set for another 10 years
