ALDI’s Seasonally Spooky Cheeses Are Just What Your Halloween Party Needs
Head on into your local ALDI store where you may find an interesting selection of Halloween-themed cheeses! The first wave of cheese marketed just for Halloween brings us two varieties of Romanian cave cheese, straight from Transylvania!
This limited edition hard cheese is a pale yellow, firm wedge sold under ALDI’s Happy Farms brand. Aside from the cheerful “Happy Farms” logo in the bottom corner, the label boasts a very dark and gloomy aesthetic, perfect for your spooky charcuterie board!
ALDI’s Transylvanian Cave Cheese also comes in a second variety, and this version is soaked in red wine. Both varieties of this hard cheese are made in Transylvania, Romania and aged in salt caves and are available for a limited time only for $3.99.
In addition to these two varieties of Romanian Cave Cheese, Better Homes and Gardens reports that ALDI is also planning to release a handful of other Halloween-themed cheeses beginning on October 16th. Like the Transylvanian Cave Cheeses, they’re expected to sell for $3.99 each.
Here’s a preview of ALDI’s Emporium Halloween Cheese Assortment, which will include four unique types of cheese with seasonally festive names and packaging…
Scary Pumpkin Spice is a Wensleydale cheese, which is described as crumbly and moist. As you would imagine, the “spice” is a mix of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
No Rest for the Wicked is another Wensleydale cheese. It’s made with strawberries and prosecco, so it’s kind of like a pre-packaged wine and cheese party!
Freaky Franken is a semi-firm Sage Derby cheese with a mild flavor. The green color comes from the dried sage that’s been mixed in, giving this cheese its perfectly freaky hue!
Bat Knit Crazy is a classic cheddar cheese featuring a sweater-wearing bat on the label.

The Romanian Cave Cheese is not for the faint of heart. It’s flavor is STRONG. We had to toss ours, as nobody could stomach it.
Oh no! Thanks for the warning, Lindsey! I haven’t tried that one!
I just came home with the cave cheese red wine version and love it. Husband wants me to go back and buy a few more because he knows it won’t last in our house
Wow! I am so glad to hear that he loved it! Thank you for the recommendation, Melissa!
I have just tried the first chunks of the regular cave cheese and I love it. It is a little bit on the stronger side, but not bad at all. I will definitely try to get some more!!!
Yay! SO glad you are enjoying that one so far, Pete! Thanks for taking a moment to comment!
