What is Nitro Pepsi?
After teasing this idea since 2019, Pepsi has started the nationwide rollout of Nitro Pepsi, its first-ever nitrogen-infused cola.
Each can of Nitro Pepsi comes with a unique widget placed in the bottom to create a smooth, creamy texture. This is the same technology used to give select beer and coffee products their froth. Nitro Pepsi will be the first cola product to use this type of in-can technology.
While this unique soda can be enjoyed straight from the can, it comes with a few recommendations for maximum enjoyment:
- Serve it cold, ideally without ice.
- It’s best “hard poured” or fully inverted into a tall glass. Check out this video to see the perfect pour.
- Sip it directly from the glass (rather than using a straw).

I had a $1 digital coupon in my Target Circle account.
Thanks for sharing!
Not sure if you have tried this…but it tastes just like the foam from a can of Pepsi. I wasn’t a fan! 😝
DARN! Thanks for letting us know what you thought of it, Tray. I haven’t tried it yet!
With a name like Nitro Pepsi, some people may get the wrong idea about it. They might think that the “Nitro” part of the name isn’t short for nitrogen, but for NITROGLYCERIN, which is a common element in DYNAMITE or BOMBS! Customers might get the idea that they’ll explode if they drink this new soda, or someone else will be dumb enough to believe that he/she can use a bottle or can of Nitro Pepsi to blow up a building or break into a bank vault or something.
Whoever made this beverage should consider changing its name to something more specific, like “Nitrogen Pepsi,” or they could put a label on the bottle or can warning buyers that the Pepsi has nitrogen in it and not nitroglycerin, and thus can’t explode or be used as a bomb.
I saw that coupon on Target’s website yesterday, but when I searched their website for Nitro Pepsi, I don’t think they had any available (online or in store), so not sure why they put that coupon out (unless I missed something).
