Please educate yourself on the safety of these. ❤️ it’s scary and we don’t like to think about it, but drowning is the number one cause of deaths in children ages 1-4. These swim vests provide a false sense of security. Teach water safety. Give swim lessons early and often. SUPERVISE them in the water. Do your own research! ❤️
Thank you for the helpful warning and for mentioning the importance of water safety, MrsG! 🤗💞
I second MrsG. I was scrolling to the bottom to say exactly what she already did. False sense if security is correct. I have heard too many horror stories from moms who who have lost their children. I am a big advocate of ISR. My kids started infant swim at just 2 months old learning to roll and float on their backs They are now 4 and 6 and can swim laps around their older cousins who don’t leave the wall.
As for the Coast Guard “approved” portion, here is whatit says about that.
The puddle jumpers should only be worn while the boat is anchored or moored. They should not be worn while the boat is underway.
This is because puddle jumpers can make it more difficult for a child to swim if they fall overboard. They can also impede a child’s ability to climb back into the boat.
If you are planning on having your child wear a puddle jumper while boating, be sure to also have a properly fitting life jacket on board for each child – just in case
